Bliss Garden Design

A flagstone patio with Dwarf Mondo Grass growing in the spaces between the stones. This was designed and built by Outdoor Expressions with the help of a former employee of ours.

The design that we developed unified the house with the greater landscape by bringing the curved lines of the corner lot (the street curved around the property) to the design of the drive, the front entry walk and the bedlines, while repeating and extending the linearity of the house in the side terrace garden. The terrace paving pattern also linked house and garden as we continued the same paving pattern found in the center hallway in the flagstone and granite terrace. Photos taken by Roger Foley

Renowned photographer Judy Davis captured Anthony Wilder Design/Build's NW Washington outdoor remodeling + landscaping project during the early summer months. The intent of the design is to bring to life our client's southern roots while incorporating a European influence. Now, the outdoor terrace is the perfect spot for entertaining friends and family regardless of the season.

The outdoor elements should be every bit as interesting as the home's interior design. This gateway is loaded with tiny yellow roses and is a welcome sight after a long winter season. The grass that lines the path is Liriope (Monkey grass). Small sprigs (6-8 leaves each) were planted 6" apart. It took a couple of growing seasons to obtain the look you see here. Mondo grass, which I have used in other areas of the country, seemed to have different attributes than Monkey grass. There are many different varieties of Liriope. Check with your local landscape expert to find what type will work best for you.

A front entry that was designed to look like a 'forgotten chateau courtyard. The design actually solved issues left over from a renovation that limited the amount of lot coverage that was left for impervious coverage in the landscape.
