Tinge of peach and pearl are traced from the bedroom to maintain the flow of the colors. “Design is not just about aesthetics; it is about creating a space that breathes your essence”, asserts Ar. Sharmin Wade, Founder of Studio SB while describing this 2BHK apartment. She articulates, “We remember the client distinctively walked us through their preferences while derivating a design where every corner told a unique story”. Initially, a 3BHK- converted into a 2BHK to maximise living areas, the design offered a balance between spaces without much effort. With a neutral palette, the residence was minimal yet elegant and curated a warm shell with cosiness for the occupants to sink in ultimate comfort. “The residence began with a grand entrance while emanating the richness and style along a veneer-finished door, embracing minimalism with functionality. Further, following a smart design style, we designed a concealed main DB unit cleverly hidden behind a push-door system, showcasing versatility in design”, explains Saumitra Bhatkhalkar. As one moved in further, a mirrored panel enhanced the entrance, creating a sense of spaciousness while adding a decorative touch to the space. Adjacent to this was the sliding kitchen door, designed to glide effortlessly in either direction, without compromising on style. “The console itself was adorned with a serene Buddha statue, set against a stunning stone sheet back panel, elevating the space with elegance”, says Sharmin. Believing the philosophy of “We must be as modern as the possibilities of our time” by Mies Van Der Rohe, the living area was divided into three zones- the formal living area, lounge area and dining area. This multi-functional approach met the demands of modern lifestyles while evoking the personality of the occupants. By utilising the full potential of wall surfaces, closed and hidden storage solutions were integrated into the design. Every element was thoughtfully crafted to complement one another, creating a cohesive look. The living area blended natural textures and patterns of raw wood with a neutral colour palette, and created a cohesive aesthetic across all elements, including loose furniture. Natural polished furniture pieces, like the sofa, center table, dining table, and chairs complemented the natural oak and neutral beige backdrop. Anchoring the composition was a minimal yet elegant rug from Obeetee, completing the refined design. This approach optimised functionality and achieved a perfect balance between spaces. “Transitioning towards the dining space, the space was topped with cane statement fixtures sourced from The White Teak Company and additional hanging lights from Artemis, casting a warm glow. We further integrated invisible hinges and selected pivot hinges to enhance the minimalist aesthetics of furniture pieces. Stone sheets from Stonelam were added to add sophistication to the space”, explains Saumitra. The captivating and smart aspect of the space was the Pooja unit- a space-savvy design with custom cabinets and fold-in doors. Behind this unit was a concealed, full-height, wall-length pull-out storage system on wheels, crafted from wood and tailored specifically for storing extra baggage. Adjacent to this is a compact niche housing an enclosed bar unit. Both the Pooja and the bar unit doors were crafted with sandwich glass panels incorporating subtly translucent fabric, offering a delicate balance of privacy and elegance. The bedrooms of the residence were designed with functionality while reflecting the personality of the occupants. “A well-designed space makes its occupants feel authentically themselves” says Sharmin. Adhering to the same, the master bedroom exuded elegance with a striking 3D back panel in a neutral-toned PU finish. This was complemented by a walnut-finished bed frame and a luxurious leather fabric headboard with upholstered bedding. A standout study chair from Misurra added a vibrant touch to the multifunctional study-cum-TV unit. On the other hand, the daughter’s bedroom was a cosy haven, designed with minimal yet impactful elements. The headboard introduced a warm, earthy green pop of colour, perfectly paired with a custom handmade frame. Back-painted glass wardrobes enhanced the sense of space in the compact room, while carefully selected curtains from Emblish add a soft, graceful finish to the design. In essence, the residence was a marriage of vision, personal preferences, and lifestyle, thoughtfully transformed into captivating, functional spaces that embodied aesthetic elegance and personal efficiency.
