6. Challenge: What to do with dead zonesConvert dead spaces such as corners into a bay window area, a small reading nook or a gallery for all your art. See how shelves and a chair transform this recessed and, till recently, unused area into a perfect spot for guitar practice!
No dead zonesIt’s almost criminal to have dead spaces in a small home when these can be used for so many things – consider converting corners into a bay window area, a small reading nook or a gallery for all your art. Here, a recessed wall has been put to good use with open shelves and a chair. A great spot for guitar practice!
3. Maximise spaceCorners can end up as voids and dead zones, so make sure you are creating a functional space here, especially if you’re living in a small apartment. A recessed wall has been put to good use in this corner, with overhead open shelves and a petite chair. A great spot for guitar practise!Browse more mid-century living rooms

Leaving instruments that kids or other occupants of the home like to play lying around will encourage impromptu music sessions. If instruments are not your thing, however, invest in a good sound system and load it with your favourite tunes to fill the space with music instead of watching TV.
