After Photo - of the room we transformed as a home office at the 2012 Kips Bay Show House. A small room with a nice city view but little else. The room's small size and awkward wall indentations on all three sides was definitely a challenge! Photo by Marco Ricca

Garden Sun Room Aurbach Mansion: This room was restored for a designer show house. We had hand painted murals done for the walls by William "Bill" Riley (rileycreative1@mac.com). They depict walking paths in a wondrous sculpture garden with flowers lining your every step. The champagne metallic molding was added at the top to increase the feeling of intimacy. The Ralph Lauren midnight blue ceiling helped to create a cozy space day or night. There are verde marble floors throughout. The ottoman is Mackenzie Childs. Antique pillows from The Martin Group. CKM home designCKM home design
CKM Home Design took the sleek, stark space from a blank canvas to a warm mixed media masterpiece by adding layers of texture, color and light. The client, a fashionable and sophisticated 22-year-old aspiring actress was looking for a warm, glamorous aesthetic that melded with the building’s contemporary vibe and architecture. The space included many typical NYC apartment nuances requiring some creative design strategies and elements: one large open space living/dining area, awkward narrow nook that needed a purpose and some personality but also had some impressive design elements to maximize including the vast oversized windows and high ceilings. photo cred: Peter Rymwid

Conceived as an empty-nesters paradise this house was designed as a series of pods to maximize the efficiency of the footprint and to celebrate the interrelationship of the interior and exterior spaces. Both indoor and outdoor living areas are promoted by the building’s harmonious relationship with the natural environment. The undulating form steps down the hillside to frame incredible views of the landscape and surrounding golf course from every point in the house and a combination of decks, bridges and patios encourage the residents to be outside. This line between in and out is further diffused by both the structure and the material palette’s movement across the exterior threshold, while the shading devices, trellises and large eves provide protection and privacy for year round use and enjoyment of the entire site. This residence is truly a deliberate response to both the owner’s lifestyle and their love of nature.

This media room is personalized with a wall that features a past Christmas card photo of the homeowners' children, made possible by custom wallpaper. Its sepia tone palette is complemented with suede wallpaper on the adjoining walls. A sectional was chosen to provide ample seating, allowing the entirety of the client’s family to relax and hang out together in one place. A mirror was positioned over the sectional to allow for bay views from any seat. Photo credit: David Duncan Livingston
