This photo shows the laundry chute and built-in shelves we created in the upstairs hallway. The chute connects to the laundry which we relocated to the basement. Placing the built-in shelves above the chute adds an attractive feature that helps to hide the utilitarian device.

House of Closets, Inc.House of Closets, Inc.
This was a client referred to us by a builder which we very often work with. The house was transitional between traditional and modern. We came up with a design for the closet that fit their needs and aesthetic. Ron Hever, one of the owners of House of Closets worked on this project. We kept the traditional crown and base and included shaker decorative doors to include a little modern touch. The white color for the closets created a very clean look still maintaining a very rich finish.

Getting laundry from the top floor to the basement laundry was no easy task but we neatly hid the chute behind the custom yellow glazed cabinet doors.

An historic Victorian home in Seattle, Washington receives an update befitting her history and beauty. The design process began by paying close attention to the home's architecture, existing color palette, and hardware details and the homeowner’s design aesthetic. It was important to ensure the renovated rooms would feel period appropriate and flow beautifully from the adjacent spaces. The bathrooms were dressed in Calacatta gold marble, antique brass metal details, ogee edge countertops and painted cabinets with a heritage finish. Elegant stone flooring and trim details, vintage inspired hardware and shower amenities niches were included to elevate the spaces. The laundry room transformation included penny floor tiles, an unexpected sidesplash detail, and a show stopping wallcovering to add a big wow factor. Our signature hidden drying racks and a concealed laundry chute cabinet add convenience and help to keep the laundry room tidy and organized. This laundry room, complete with a secret elevator, makes the tedious task of laundry a joy to complete! Interior Design: Jennifer Gardner Photography: Emily Keeney

Impala Kitchens and BathroomsImpala Kitchens and Bathrooms
Impala just completed this stunning kitchen! The brief was to design a kitchen with warmth and impressive textures to suit the house which spanned over four levels. The design needed to allow for casual eating in the kitchen, ample preparation and storage areas. Utilitarian bench tops were selected for the preparation zones on the island and adjacent to the cooktop. A thick recycled timber slab was installed for the lowered eating zone and a stunning transparent marble for the splashback and display niche. Joinery was manufactured from timber veneer and polyurethane. Critical to the modern, sleek design was that the kitchen had minimum handles. Two handles were used on the larger doors for the fridge and lift-up cabinet which concealed the microwave. To balance the design, decorative timber panels were installed on the ceiling over the island. As storage was also a priority, a walk in pantry was installed which can be accessed at the far left by pushing a timber veneer panel.

This was a laundry room that needed an update. The update needed to be coordinated with the house's aesthetic appeal, yet have a few hidden but majorly needed functional properties. We added two rev-a-shelf laundry baskets side by side, a hidden trash can, and a wall cabinet connected to the house's laundry chute just to name a few.
