Klopper Residence Custom Home The client’s program was for a modern, new 3,500 s.f. retirement home in San Jose that looked like a Spanish cottage with the feel of an old world village. The house needed to have gracious and open day-to-day living areas, and to maximize winter sun exposure. Being adjacent to Almaden Quicksilver County Park open space, the living areas were oriented both to the views and to the park. Window placement was strategically calculated with sun chart diagrams to optimize the winter sun. The house has an elevator and wheelchair accessible bathroom for the owner’s future use if needed.
