These homeowners began working with Normandy Designer Gary Cerek to create a sunroom addition off of their existing kitchen, which would include an eating area and lounge space, and of course, overlook their beautiful backyard. The client wanted to also add a new island to their existing kitchen in order to allow informal seating for three to four people.

This young family began working with us after struggling with their previous contractor. They were over budget and not achieving what they really needed with the addition they were proposing. Rather than extend the existing footprint of their house as had been suggested, we proposed completely changing the orientation of their separate kitchen, living room, dining room, and sunroom and opening it all up to an open floor plan. By changing the configuration of doors and windows to better suit the new layout and sight lines, we were able to improve the views of their beautiful backyard and increase the natural light allowed into the spaces. We raised the floor in the sunroom to allow for a level cohesive floor throughout the areas. Their extended kitchen now has a nice sitting area within the kitchen to allow for conversation with friends and family during meal prep and entertaining. The sitting area opens to a full dining room with built in buffet and hutch that functions as a serving station. Conscious thought was given that all “permanent” selections such as cabinetry and countertops were designed to suit the masses, with a splash of this homeowner’s individual style in the double herringbone soft gray tile of the backsplash, the mitred edge of the island countertop, and the mixture of metals in the plumbing and lighting fixtures. Careful consideration was given to the function of each cabinet and organization and storage was maximized. This family is now able to entertain their extended family with seating for 18 and not only enjoy entertaining in a space that feels open and inviting, but also enjoy sitting down as a family for the simple pleasure of supper together.

Design Dazzler Room of the Month July 2009 Carter's Modern Nursery DesignByDad "This is a modern nursery for our first child, Carter. I didn't let my wife see the room for over a month. I was trying to achieve a space that was sanctuary for our first child. A room that could evolve as he gets older with very little effort. I wanted something that was simple and not too whimsical. But still held the heart and spirit of a child's world and was reflective a child's imagination and wonder. I chose a complementary color scheme and went to work! The wall/furniture art are all vinyl decals. The brown and white dresser is from Ikea. Originally the door fronts were black/brown as well but I dismantled them and painted them white. I then used white contact paper on the back of the frosted glass as I don't care for look of frosted glass door fronts once you actually have things behind them. Other items in the room: The wall art is from walltat.com, whatisblik.com and vinylwallart.com. The bedding is from Babies R Us, designed by Amy Coe (great designer for modern nurseries). The window panels are from Pottery Barn Kids. And my favorite...the rug is from Land Of Nod. I am very happy with the end result but even happier when I see my wife just sitting in the room looking around and taking all in." To purchase rug click here. More nurseries in our photo gallery . MOTIF transformed a standard bedroom into this artful and inviting home office with the potential of being used a guest room when the occasion arises. Soft wall colors, a textured area rug, a built in desk are counterpoint to a cozy sofa bench -- which doubles as a twin bed or can be transformed into a queen bed by pulling the pieces apart and reconnecting them in another configuration. It is a surprising and unexpected room and is both functional and beautiful.

I am proud to present New, Stylish, Practical, and just Awesome ) design for your new kid's room. Ta -da... The space in this room is minimal, and it's tough to have two beds there and have a useful and pretty design. This design was built on the idea to have a bed that transforms from king to two tweens and back with ease. I do think most of the time better to keep it as a single bed and, when needed, slide bed over and have two beds. The single bed will give you more space and air in the room. You will have easy access to the closet and a much more comfortable bed to sleep on it. On the left side, we are going to build costume wardrobe style closet On the right side is a column. We install some exposed shelving to bring this architectural element to proportions with the room. Behind the bed, we use accent wallpaper. This particular mural wallpaper looks like fabric has those waves that will softener this room. Also, it brings that three-dimension effect that makes the room look larger without using mirrors. Led lighting over that wall will make shadows look alive. There are some Miami vibes it this picture. Without dominating overall room design, these art graphics are producing luxury filing of living in a tropical paradise. ( Miami Style) On the front is console/table cabinetry. In this combination, it is in line with bed design and the overall geometrical proportions of the room. It is a multi-function. It will be used as a console for a TV/play station and a small table for computer activities. In the end wall in the hallway is a costume made a mirror with Led lights. Girls need mirrors ) Our concept is timeless. We design this room to be the best for any age. We look into the future ) Your girl will grow very fast. And you do not have to change a thing in this room. This room will be comfortable and stylish for the next 20 years. I do guarantee that ) Your daughter will love it!
