Kennebunk - Steps to the Beach

I think this type of ceiling detail is what Brian was talking about in the living room to create separation between that space and the dining/kitchen area in front of the stairs. I like the concept, but given our lower ceiling height, and preference for the pine/natural wood, maybe we could do the white bead board with thinner pine boards separating the sections? Similar to the pine board the runs along the ceiling from the front of the house to the staircase?
