House of Dappled Shadows: Nestled in the Mango trees
Set in the semi-urban context of the famed Kodungallur town, this residence was designed for a client based in Dubai whose primary wish was for a simple and beautiful home at his home town.
What Houzz contributors are saying:

2. Cantilevered structuresMudbricks brings dynamism to this Thrissur home’s façade, employing a deep overhanging porch and cantilevered forms on the building. A clean white-and-wood palette keeps the focus on the structure’s massing. Such forms act as passive devices to cool the interiors and give bonus space on upper levels to homes, with minimum ground coverage.

A unique feature of the house is how it embraces natural light while creating an interplay of light and shadow. Artificial lighting is kept to a bare minimum, even in areas like the bathroom. The modern white facade is punctuated with wooden accents to extend a warm welcome. Black steps lead to the porch with a cantilevered roof, which serves as a great spot to enjoy the view outside.
