The goal in building this home was to create an exterior esthetic that elicits memories of a Tuscan Villa on a hillside and also incorporates a modern feel to the interior. Modern aspects were achieved using an open staircase along with a 25' wide rear folding door. The addition of the folding door allows us to achieve a seamless feel between the interior and exterior of the house. Such creates a versatile entertaining area that increases the capacity to comfortably entertain guests. The outdoor living space with covered porch is another unique feature of the house. The porch has a fireplace plus heaters in the ceiling which allow one to entertain guests regardless of the temperature. The zero edge pool provides an absolutely beautiful backdrop—currently, it is the only one made in Indiana. Lastly, the master bathroom shower has a 2' x 3' shower head for the ultimate waterfall effect. This house is unique both outside and in.

Designed with a standing seam metal roof, with internal drainage system for hidden gutters design. Rain chain and rain barrels for rain harvesting. Retrofitted with Hardy Frames prefabricated shear walls for up to date earthquake safety. Opening both walls to the backyard, there are now two 14' folding doors allowing the inside and outside to merge. http://www.hardyframe.com/HF/index.html Amy J Smith Photography

We love rejuvenating derelict properties. This mid terrace town centre house had been empty for several years and neglected since the 1960′s so a complete strip back to the shell was required. We removed the chimney to open the space from the hallway rear garden, demolished a box extension and inserted a Bi-Fold door. The property had 6 bedrooms across 3 storeys with only 1 bathroom and separate WC so we opened up the 2 rooms to create a master bathroom and utilised the box bedroom as an en-suite for the master bedroom. The joinery throughout the house was beyond restoration with exception of the staircase so we produced a 9″ skirting detail that flows seamlessly around the property. The kitchen and bathrooms are classic Project One design with a few of our signature features. The decoration and palette is designed to flow seamlessly with all surfaces having one colour to reduce separation lines between walls and joinery giving a relaxed easy space to live in. The gardens had simple makeovers while the windows were replaced with Sash units.

This home is a bachelor’s dream, but it didn’t start that way. It began with a young man purchasing his first single-family home in Westlake Village. The house was dated from the late 1980s, dark, and closed off. In other words, it felt like a man cave — not a home. It needed a masculine makeover. He turned to his friend, who spoke highly of their experience with us. We had remodeled and designed their home, now known as the “Oak Park Soiree.” The result of this home’s new, open floorplan assured him we could provide the same flow and functionality to his own home. He put his trust in our hands, and the construction began. The entry of our client’s original home had no “wow factor.” As you walked in, you noticed a staircase enclosed by a wall, making the space feel bulky and uninviting. Our team elevated the entry by designing a new modern staircase with a see-through railing. We even took advantage of the area under the stairs by building a wine cellar underneath it… because wine not? Down the hall, the kitchen and family room used to be separated by a wall. The kitchen lacked countertop and storage space, and the family room had a high ceiling open to the second floor. This floorplan didn’t function well with our client’s lifestyle. He wanted one large space that allowed him to entertain family and friends while at the same time, not having to worry about noise traveling upstairs. Our architects crafted a new floorplan to make the kitchen, breakfast nook, and family room flow together as a great room. We removed the obstructing wall and enclosed the high ceiling above the family room by building a new loft space above. The kitchen area of the great room is now the heart of the home! Our client and his guests have plenty of space to gather around the oversized island with additional seating. The walls are surrounded by custom Crystal cabinetry, and the countertops glisten with Vadara quartz, providing ample cooking and storage space. To top it all off, we installed several new appliances, including a built-in fridge and coffee machine, a Miele 48-inch range, and a beautifully designed boxed ventilation hood with brass strapping and contrasting color. There is now an effortless transition from the kitchen to the family room, where your eyes are drawn to the newly centered, linear fireplace surrounded by floating shelves. Its backlighting spotlights the purposefully placed symmetrical décor inside it. Next to this focal point lies a LaCantina bi-fold door leading to the backyard’s sparkling new pool and additional outdoor living space. Not only does the wide door create a seamless transition to the outside, but it also brings an abundance of natural light into the home. Once in need of a masculine makeover, this home’s sexy black and gold finishes paired with additional space for wine and guests to have a good time make it a bachelor’s dream. This extensive, five bedroom family home in a stunning cliff-top location overlooking Porth beach, Newquay, has three mono-pitched slate roof elements designed to break up the roofline and reduce the mass, giving the appearance of smaller structures. The house as been designed to respond to its beach side location and maximise panoramic ocean vistas. Internally, a grand spiral staircase sweeps down to the main, sea-facing, reception areas, which open onto a large terrace that blurs the boundaries between indoor and outdoor spaces. Additional living spaces include a games room and garden room. Leisure facilities integrated into the house include a home bar and swimming pool, with dedicated changing and shower amenities.

This ground floor rear and side extension was undertaken to create an open plan living space, that would draw natural light deeper into the property. The contemporary style, with expansive glass/aluminium bi-fold doors creates a very light, bright and function kitchen.
