C&R Remodeling constructed this studio and home office for Linda Stewart, Interior Designer. Her carefully planned design artfully blends contemporary with Asian influences. Two sets of French doors open to the exquisitly landscaped back yard and patio area. The studio doubles as a family room and has become the couple's favorite living area. The main house connects to the studio via an open but covered breezeway. Photography by Jon Deming

Living room fireplace. A floor to ceiling install of a slate natural stone look-a-like. This is a porcelain tile made by Edimax, product line is called "Slatey". This material is the best looking faux natural stone porcelain that I have seen. I have worked with this company for many years and this line has been released a couple years ago through a local supplier, Crossville Tile & Stone. The sizes here are a 12x24 and a 6x24 and the install is on a brick-lay. Notice the edges of the fireplace and how the cuts wrap around the corner, leaving a seamless look and keeps the natural veining consistent. Firplace measures 6ft wide, 9ft high and 3ft deep. Rooftop deck for entertaining. This deck is designed to resist ice and snow build up in the northern Montana winters by utilizing a heating 'loop' from the home with no extra heating costs. The water from the rooftop deck is also gathered to be used in a landscaping pond for aesthetics and for the children's entertainment.

KUBE architectureKUBE architecture
Architects Modern This mid-century modern home was designed by the architect Charles Goodman in 1950. Janet Bloomberg, a KUBE partner, completely renovated it, retaining but enhancing the spirit of the original home. None of the rooms were relocated, but the house was opened up and restructured, and fresh finishes and colors were introduced throughout. A new powder room was tucked into the space of a hall closet, and built-in storage was created in every possible location - not a single square foot is left unused. Existing mechanical and electrical systems were replaced, creating a modern home within the shell of the original historic structure. Floor-to-ceiling glass in every room allows the outside to flow seamlessly with the interior, making the small footprint feel substantially larger. all, photos: Greg Powers Photography
