When rebuilding this historic home to two and a half times its former size, Airoom blended the elegance of a five star lodge with the home’s original charm. Modern appliances resemble vintage furniture, and a custom shingle design mimics a thatched roof. The kitchen is crowned with a rustic copper-finished ceiling, but updated with Subzero wine storage. Sinks from Kohler’s “Memoirs” collection and a walk-in shower for two lend luxury to the master bath. Perhaps most important to homeowners who love to entertain, multiple passages were created to ease circulation indoors and out, making this the ideal place to gather with friends.

This Mill Valley residence under the redwoods was conceived and designed for a young and growing family. Though technically a remodel, the project was in essence new construction from the ground up, and its clean, traditional detailing and lay-out by Chambers & Chambers offered great opportunities for our talented carpenters to show their stuff. This home features the efficiency and comfort of hydronic floor heating throughout, solid-paneled walls and ceilings, open spaces and cozy reading nooks, expansive bi-folding doors for indoor/ outdoor living, and an attention to detail and durability that is a hallmark of how we build. One East End Avenue is one of New York’s finest neoclassical lobbies with a dramatic view from East End Avenue through and across the river. Originally the river side shared equal importance as brokers travelled by boat to Wall Street. The river entry is rarely used now; but, the sparkle and reflection from the river still enliven the Lobby. Our design focuses on developing the highest quality finishes that expand upon the existing architecture, enhancing its grace and poise. We restored and relocated the enameled light fixtures, furnishings and mirrors and found new furniture in the Empire Style. We employed a soft finish for walls, marbleized the columns and entablature and gilded the detailing to add warmth and elegance. ALL PHOTOS BY ETHELIND COBLIN ARCHITECT P.C.

Simplified lines come together to create dramatic planes and volumes across the exterior of the home. While Stein's designs often incorporate wavy roof lines, this home was designed to mimic the leaves of the Tulip Poplar trees, some of which still remain on the property. Mudroom Cabinets were custom designed by Jessica McAllister of Kountry Kraft for a transitional style entryway in Sinking Spring, Pennsylvania. The cabinets are crafted in Penn Line style out of Red Oak wood and finished in Gray Wolf 25° stain color. Across the top and bottom of the cabinets are storage units for hats, gloves and shoes. Antique pewter hooks from Top Knobs provide the perfect place to hang coats and bags. This mudroom cabinet system also includes a bench for sitting while putting on your shoes. Mudroom cabinets help keep clutter the kitchen and living areas clean because they create a dedicated space for the items that are typically taken off and put on when entering or exiting the house.
