The slow home : living room

guest bedroom is converted into a multipurpose room which also becomes an extension of the living room

The foyer was a tight space and we knocked down part of the wall into the studio beyond to create a storage space that was flushed with the entryway wall. We envisioned this space to be a perfect reception into an artist’s home. Hence, we designed the flooring with an artistic flair of patterned tiles bordering it with a plain base, coloured the ceiling and spruced up the space with a gorgeous, multi-coloured pendant light. A hand carved mirror was a delightful add-on.

The client’s brief for us was to design a space that is elegant, luxurious yet comfortable. A space that is welcoming for all their friends & family. A space that radiates a sense of richness yet provides the warmth required in a home. By understanding their use of space, we decided to create different seating areas as per their functionality. The house opens into a spacious living room that seamlessly transitions into the dining area. The combination of distinct elements & furniture that is crafted in metal, wood & use of plush upholstery fabrics create an interplay of textures. We decided to frame the seating areas symmetrically by adding wall mouldings. They gave a form and structure to the overall space. The maroon-coloured sofas complimented the tropical tones used in the space. The tactile natural of the tear – dropped marble centre table gives an organic touch to the luxurious background.
