You can tweak the flooring or use area rugs to break the monotony and visually demarcate different functions in expansive rooms. Notice how the seating area at the far end of the room in the picture has a contrasting white floor and the bed is set apart from the rest of the room with the patterned rug.

8. The fifth wallDesigners often call the ceiling the “fifth wall” in a room. It’s also an area that can often go overlooked. But for this Virginia master suite built by Toll Brothers, the ceiling is a focal point. The design team covered the ceiling in the same stained wood that covers the floor. The effect draws the eye up and balances the size of the large master suite.Check out these wooden ceiling designs

Ceiling *I like the wood accent ceilings in tongue and groove. Preference on which room, if maybe not the master? I am afraid it might close it up and darken it too much in there.
