It all comes down to the amount of area available and what you want to do with it. Not all of you would wish for a water body inside your home. You can still create a green patch with indoor plants and top it up with sculptures and good lighting. Less work, but equally effective.
1. Pretty green patchA feeling of tranquility and a decorative effect are created with the use of the Buddha statue and the foliage. The long pendants add sparkle to complete the vignette at the foot of the stairs.
A stairwell courtyard with ample light is another great place for a Zen garden. Using larger plants (pictured here are some lovely Chinese fan palms or Livistona chinensis) and a grey groundcover instead of pebbles is a modern take on the traditional Zen garden.
