The owners of this city townhouse asked us to renovate former first-floor office space and design an apartment for their college-age daughter. Working within a modest budget and square-footage, we created distinct living, dining, kitchen, and bedroom areas with additional pantry and closet space. Photos by Shelly Harrison.

Designer, Randy Angell The "before" photos on this backyard show a non descript, typical 30 year old pool. The homeowners had no desire to "play it safe" and so, we didn't! We utilized th simple, straight lines of the existing pool to lay out a multi level space for an outdoor living area, a sun lounge area, and a cooking and dining area.

the deck The deck is an outdoor room with a high awning roof built over. This dramatic roof gives one the feeling of being outside under the sky and yet still sheltered from the rain. The awning roof is freestanding to allow hot summer air to escape and to simplify construction. The architect designed the kitchen as a sculpture. It is also very practical and makes the most out of economical materials.
