Colorful Dining Room
To eliminate an inconsistent layout, we removed the wall dividing the dining room from the living room and added a polished brass and ebonized wood handrail to create a sweeping view into the living room. To highlight the family’s passion for reading, we created a beautiful library with custom shelves flanking a niche wallpapered with Flavor Paper’s bold Glow print with color-coded book spines to add pops of color. Tom Dixon pendant lights, acrylic chairs, and a geometric hide rug complete the look.
What Houzz contributors are saying:

You know how to mix materialsIf you are truly into contemporary style, you say no to anything blandly matchy-matchy. Instead, you’re drawn to spaces that incorporate a clever mix of materials. The best contemporary rooms do this, for a space that’s rich in texture and colour, but remains harmonious. If you dare to risk the mix, we salute you!Read more:What is Contemporary Decor?Tell us:Do any of these traits chime with you? As writer Junichiro Tanizaki remarks in his controversial ‘In Praise of Shadows’, “In the mansion called literature, I would have the eves deep and the walls dark”.Check out ingenious bookshelf designs in surprising spots

Interesting door placement. If table was desk, this could be access to office storage/printer/file room

Imagine the left and the right side being shelves and shelves over windows and bottom is drawers /filing cabinet
