Carrara Marble Designs & Ideas

Architect Gary Gladwish, interior designer Eric Swanson, and builder Hammer & Hand teamed up to transform three dark and cramped spaces in a Seattle home into bright and airy rooms. The team updated a guest bathroom and kitchen with new finishes, paint, and nearly doubled the size of the master bathroom. Photography by Will Austin.

The master bathroom features classic White Carrara Marble honed for less reflection and soft texture. Two small vanities a tucked in between a makeup counter and a large soaking tub (with a tv, so you know they are going to use it). Honed White Carrara Marble tile keeps a consistent soft, airy elegance throughout the large bathroom. Custom espresso cabinetry and woodwork makes the White Carrara seem brighter in contrast, an effect that is compounded when sunlight streams in the bay windows.
This is one of only a handful of center hallway historic row homes in DC. Located near Eastern Market, this beautiful home was completely renovated last year. It had rented out to several students. The homeowners lived in a nearby house while a team of skilled craftsmen and niche contractors transformed the interior. Granite Grannies installed two kitchens, four bathrooms, a laundry room counter and two fireplaces. Except for two bathrooms, all the granite, marble, and soapstone was honed or leathered for a historic texture.

Recently, Liebke Projects joined the team at Minosa Design to refresh a then rundown three level 1900’s Victorian terrace in Woollahra, resulting in this stylish, clean ‘Hidden Kitchen’.

This bathroom is teeny tiny, and we couldn't change the original footprint. But using quality materials and light finishes made it feel new and bright, and perfectly suited to the elegance of the house. Beveled white tile, lots of Carrara marble, polished nickel fixtures, and period sconces all played a role in this spectacular facelift.

To meet the requirements for this kitchen, we captured existing underutilized and poorly designed spaces. This kitchen newly renovated spans the entire width of the tail end of this 1940s Sears Bungalow, with an 8 foot island table anchoring the space, and directing traffic flow away from the main work areas. The windows extend down to "sit" on the counter.
