A 1-1/2" seismic separation was left between the masonry wall and the existing house. A galvanized and painted sheet-metal trim-piece covers the joint, while allowing for seismic displacement. This image also shows the beautiful finish Wells Concrete Works applied to the cast concrete. This particular monochromatic finish is difficult to achieve because it takes great care to polish the surface without exposing much of the sand and aggregate. Micah D. Smith, AIA
