Austin Modern

This modern home evokes memories of the fifties and sixties modern movement but does it with state of the art sustainable building practices. The site specific home features an open plan that allows for a smaller, yet more spacious home. Because its site specific the home works harmoniously with the site's orientation and prevailing breezes resulting in lowered utility costs. The home's interior is flooded with natural light but with minimal direct solar gain, reducing glare and heating loads. Rust red Cor'ten steel, metal siding, and hard trowelled stucco (to look like concrete) come together in a lively composition that's held up well over the last five years.
