I a very modest house with tiny bedrooms that was built in the 1940s. I also have a very modest budget. When my daughter moved away I turned her room into a guest bedroom and reading room. The bookcase was made by my brother. It folds down and has made all my CA moves with me. My dog and I both love how quiet it is. I had to repair the bed and I painted the mural using acrylics then added some of my favorite things in there. I still have a wall of pictures to go up above the bookcase- photos of my horse and horse art. When I can I'll update the lighting.

We may be empty nesters but one of our spare bedrooms is a nursery for our grandchildren. Our son and his wife live nearby and when they had their first son two years ago we converted a bedroom to a nursery. The crib is perfect when we all get together or when we are babysitting. There is a comfortable chair and now that our grandson is older we have our son’s childhood table and benches. It is great to keep toys in too. Our granddaughter was born four months ago so it will remain a nursery for a few more years.
