An elongated brick wall defines the home’s exterior, serving to fill the frame as much as the azure sky above. A slat-roofed car park, shielded by a sliding gate, indents the wall midway. To the right of the car park is a bijou ingress, signalling an entryway for visitors.
A stepped pathway, overarched by a portico and bordered by a rectangular lotus-dappled waterbody to the right, signifies the home’s main entrance. Pockets of greenery highlight the walkway, injecting an organic freshness into the hardscape. To the right of the waterbody lies the first hint of the interior, by way of a glass-walled home office.

A passage with a tree motif leads to the living room.
Overhead, on the living room’s wood-panelled ceiling, a conical chandelier takes centre stage. An ensemble of forest-inspired paintings adorn the walls, nodding to the woodland ceiling, while a pair of plump buttercup-yellow chairs adds a cheery appeal to the otherwise monochrome seating scheme .

“This room relies on abundant natural light and is otherwise illuminated only by a chandelier and a pedestal lamp, reserved for when the sun sets,” says Yatin Kavaiya, co-founder and principal architect with Tosar.

The living room and the peripheral passages are arranged around an internal courtyard that serves as the heart of the home. Here, the floor channels the colours of the earth, rooting the space in the surrounding landscape.
“The courtyard is the essence of the home. The natural light cascades through the pergolas and chiselled brick wall, making it the perfect setting to witness sunrises, with a cup of coffee in hand,” says Tosar.

An aperture-accented brick wall separates the courtyard from the main entryway, delivering a patterned dialogue of shadow and light.
“The patterns subtly break the monotony usually associated with brick and imbue the architectural language with a dynamic, tactile quality,” notes Kavaiya.

A palette of grey and brown dominates the powder room (situated next to the living room), channelled through tiled and exposed brick finishes. A floating sink counter and wooden shelves on either side cut a modish figure, breaking away from the characteristic rustic interior.

The family room, located near the powder room, features a plain vanilla shell, contrasted fittingly by an exposed RCC ceiling. A long window sweeps along one wall, providing a view of the central courtyard. Contemporary decor anchors the area, in the guise of an elongated olive sofa, a mustard recliner, and a matching footstool. A painting on canvas duets with a psychedelic rug, counterbalancing the muted surroundings with a cornucopia of colour.
“The modern colours duel with the rustic lure of the brick and Kota combination,” says Tosar.

The family room opens into a pergola-shaded sit-out, bathed in bands of light and slender shadows. A swing takes centre stage, sheltered by a wall of wire-brushed plaster and a brick-accented screen, with a finely textured terrazzo floor underfoot.

The first floor is home to the guest bedroom, the daughter’s bedroom and the home theatre.
In the guest bedroom, the floor is a veritable tour de force. The Kota stone base is enriched with indigo mosaic tiles and polished to a buffed finish. Custom glass sconces preside over the leather-backed headrest, enveloping the slumber area in a halo of soft light. Overhead, cement sheets, emblazoned with ornamental wooden beading, cover the ceiling.

The guest bathroom mirrors the home’s signature grey palette. A ribbed skylight invites sunlight from above, while a rectangular pocket garden enlivens the wall underneath.

A grey-and-white cocoon defines the daughter’s bedroom (located at the end of the first-floor passage), where the furniture is pared down to a bare minimum. The wooden floor infuses richness into the cool palette, providing a neutral canvas for the cream-and-grey area rug and vibrant accent pillows. A rose-gold chandelier serves as a glamorous addition to the muted decor, while an acrylic sign reading “good vibes only” exudes an easy, breezy appeal.

“The home theatre offers generous views of the garden below,” says Kavaiya.
Inside, Egyptian blue and wood tones juxtapose to form a restrained aesthetic. The walls and ceiling gain pizzazz with Aztec-print fabric acoustic panels that conceal the electric theatre consoles. In the centre, a four-seater sofa acts as the room’s hero piece, highlighted, in turn, by a shaggy grey area rug.

Behind the courtyard, a brick peninsula hosts a square-cut garden that offsets the surrounding angular facades with a dose of vibrant greenness.
