Looking to remodel your kitchen? The 10 most-saved kitchen photos uploaded to Houzz in the last three months can give you some winning design ideas. In this countdown, you’ll find the colors, styles and other features the community is loving. Here’s one hint: Every kitchen here includes an island.
9. Minty Elegance
Designer Kelly Nelson of Kelly Nelson Designs gave this Delaware beach house kitchen an open, airy feel with room for several people to cook simultaneously — a request of the homeowners, who found Nelson on Houzz. The cabinet paint is a minty blue (Tidewater by Sherwin-Williams). A coffered ceiling elevates the design, while low-key lighting fixtures prevent it from feeling over the top.
The end of the island contains two refrigerator drawers for soft drinks and other quick-grab items, keeping kids and noncooking adults out of the main fridge — and the chefs’ way. A second sink near the banquette offers a tucked-away spot for kids and food preppers to wash their hands.

7. Model Walnut
Designer Janelle Rasmussen of Interior Transitions Group wanted to create a modern farmhouse look for this kitchen in a Lakeville, Minnesota, model home by Robert Thomas Homes. Painted white perimeter cabinets (Dover White by Sherwin-Williams) are offset by a rich walnut in a desert sand stain. The stain also helps protect the island from kicking feet and bangs of pots and pans. The backsplash is Calacatta marble subway tile and the countertops are quartz.
Wall paint: Repose Gray by Sherwin-Williams; pendants: Cadence in polished nickel

6. Green and Clean
In this attractive Illinois kitchen, designer Chad Esslinger of Chad Esslinger Design married green cabinets with a knotty alder island that doubles as an eat-in table. One end of the island contains a garbage-and-recycling cabinet, a drawer for utensils and a narrow beverage fridge. The backsplash is patterned cement tile.

5. Blue-and-Gray Beauty
The owners of this Charlotte, North Carolina, home asked designer Kimmie Rokahr of Design Loft Cabinets to create a kitchen that avoided the trend of white cabinets with white subway tile. Gray cabinets and a blue island gave them a different look.
Twelve-inch-deep cabinets on both ends of the island offer thoughtful storage: The cabinet on one end houses serving trays, while the one on the other holds baking sheets, muffin tins and spices.
Custom cabinets: Unique collection, Cabico

This San Diego kitchen blends two popular cabinet finishes — wood and white — with patterned tile and dark countertops. Pops of black throughout the kitchen (the bar stools, pendant lights and cabinet hardware) pull the look together.

3. Warm Wood and White
New Jersey designer Virginia Toledo of Toledo Geller warmed up the bright white cabinetry in this New Jersey home with a white oak feature wall and the same wood on the kitchen island. A rollout chopping station under the end of the island gives the cook more prep space when needed. The countertops and backsplash behind the stove are quartz.
