You are … Beyond trend-obsessed!

Beyond trend-obsessed: You’re the interiors equivalent of Anna Wintour – so fashion-forward you’re on the bit of the interiors runway they haven’t finished building yet. Your friends are sometimes surprised when you turn your nose up at a particular paint colour because it’s last-season – they’ve never even seen it on anyone else’s walls (but of course they weren’t at Salone last year…). You know a lot of the things in your home aren’t to many people’s taste (and that’s why you like them! “Sheep” is the worst style insult anyone could throw your way). If you’re not already working for a trend-prediction agency, consider a new career… Though being surrounded by all those faddy fashions you were enjoying two years earlier might just push you over the edge.

You are … A trends nerd!

A trends nerd: You did this quiz pretty confidently and know the difference, trendwise, between copper and brass. You’re not slavishly fashion-led (though you did swap your Down Pipe paint job for Black Blue last season), but you’re constantly spotting new ideas and every time friends come over, they’re likely to exclaim, “Oh, it looks different in here – what have you changed?” And you’ll always have changed something, because you’re trend-addicted, even if you don’t admit it to yourself. The best compliment is when someone tells you they’d never have thought of trying this or that idea, and then, six months later, you start spotting your early adopted idea all over the place. At which point, of course, it’s time to go shopping again.

You are … Happy to take ’em or leave ’em!

Happy to take ’em or leave ’em: You’re totally aware that your vintage owl-print cushion may be considered old hat, but it’s an heirloom and it’s beautiful and it makes you happy – so what’s the big deal? You have a healthy understanding of what’s fashionable and what’s (apparently) not, but trends have little impact on your style. Your home is the sort of place people walk into and visibly relax, and “It’s so homely/welcoming/cosy here” is a regular response, as you boil the kettle and encourage your guests to feel at home. That’s not to say you’re not house proud – you really are – and you are interested in trends, when you have time to catch up with them. It’s more that you’re proudly individual and, while you love making your home look good, you also love having time to simply enjoy living in it, too.

You are … A classic!

A classic: You love design, but your focus is on pieces that do their jobs, or will last, or which fit within the style you’ve cultivated for years. While others will factor this angle into their home décor, simultaneously dusting it with ever-changing fashion-y touches, you’ll lead with this slightly more practical approach. Why? Well, it might be that you’re unaware of current trends, but it’s equally likely you’re utterly au fait with them, but that they simply don’t motivate you. Perhaps you’re more interested in the bare bones design of a building, or more excited about buying a design classic that functions perfectly, rather than choosing something for its this-season colour or picking the latest material. You might be a collector whose collection wouldn’t accommodate faddy fruit or animal motifs. Alternatively, it could be that you’re into shabby chic because you’ve loved vintage fabrics your whole life, or maybe you find that all-white interiors make you so happy, you never want to live with anything different. Whatever your style, your taste is truly (and conveniently, as far as you’re concerned) timeless.
