The clients — a young couple in their early 30s — envisaged a home that echoed modern sensibilities. “They wanted the house to be clutter-free and devoid of unnecessary elements, giving their toddler enough space to run around and play,” say Disha Bhavsar and Shivani Ajmera, co-founders and chief interior designers of Quirk Studio. “While designing the home, we explored an assortment of textures and finishes. The space features varied flooring, contrasting hues and multiple design styles, which coexist in perfect harmony.”

An imposing wood-slat door ushers visitors into an ivory-and-grey entryway presided over by a voguish chandelier. Muted, matte walls cocoon the entrance chamber, cured only by pops of verdure that infuse a vitality into the pared-back aesthetic.
An antique brass pipe screen, accented by oversized glass pendant lights and underpinned by a sleek marble console, subtly partitions the foyer from the living room beyond.

The living room offers three seating areas — one by the balcony, another to its left, and a third situated adjacent to the foyer.
The main seating area, featured here, hosts a dove grey sectional and a royal blue divan, and abuts a sweeping balcony that runs the length of the room.
“Despite being in three different corners, the seating areas visually coalesce as a decidedly unified space,” says Bhavsar.

An elevation to the left visually demarcates the second seating area. Here, a wall emblazoned with three-dimensional handmade tiles acts as the focal point. A grey buttoned sofa serves to provide additional seating to the main layout, while also acting as a standalone knock-back nook.
“The wall is highlighted with a special focus light that creates an interplay of shadows and colour,” Ajmera says.

To the right of the foyer, is the third seating area, represented by a pair of armchairs. An ensemble of monochrome plates enliven the wall behind, while the ash grey ceramic floor and warm, wood-finished ceiling add a touch of rusticity.
Brooding blacks, dark mirrored facades, foliated motifs and dim lighting in the powder room are a dramatic departure from the signature style of the home.
“We tried to push the envelope in terms of design. The room is a sharp contrast to the rest of the home, but emerges as one of the key elements,” says Bhavsar.

The living room extends into the dining area, where the spotlight is firmly on the live edge wooden dining table. The decor here is minimalist, its vanilla palette echoing the hues of the living room. A pair of modish chandeliers illuminate the setting.

Clean lines, muted tones, seamless surfaces and sleek handleless cabinetry reign over the kitchen aesthetic.
“We went for a fully loaded modular kitchen clad completely in acrylic finishes,” says Ajmera. The flooring, continuing from the common areas, conjures a mellow vibe, fittingly mirroring the counters and facades.

The den, featured here, is an eclectic tapestry of wooden rafters, recessed lighting, electric art prints, grey epoxy flooring and a vintage leather trunk coffee table.
“The den is the most characterful room and reflects the personalities of the homeowners. We chose a neutral shell and added colour and pop by means of furniture, books, accessories and wall art,” says Bhavsar.

Grounded by simple, neutral decor, the master bedroom heralds spring days with lavender hues, blush linens and a vase of fresh blooms. A pair of gleaming pendant lamps flank the bed, providing a touch of sparkle.
“The room opens into a walk-in wardrobe, a shoe closet and an en-suite master bathroom,” says Ajmera.

The master bathroom is outfitted with his-and-hers sinks and a breezy fern-print wallpaper. The wood-panelled floor channels a driftwood style, infusing the bath chamber with a coastal chic appeal.

The nursery is defined by a gender-neutral palette of grey, yellow and green, courtesy its printed wallpaper.
A daisy daybed and matching crib balance the wallpapered shell, perfectly complementing the white back-painted wardrobe shutters and pastel-hued wooden knobs.
