The client brief made it abundantly clear that ‘contemporary’, ‘calm’ and ‘minimal’ were the need of the hour. “And so it followed that we chose a palette that would root the home in tranquility. As you venture through, restrained colour and tactile finishes combine to cocoon the observer in a peaceful aura,” says Vibha Saraf, founder and principal architect of Vcreate Designs.

The foyer leads into the living room, which cuts a minimalist, monochrome figure.
“The bespoke concrete art installation with vertical flutes scales a width of 17 feet and is the room’s crowning glory,” says Saraf.

The living room opens into a cosy balcony.
The dining room and kitchen share an open-plan layout, with the kitchen island extending into a cantilevered, 9-foot-long dinner table. Black rattan-back chairs nod to the deep tones of the kitchen.
“We tore down the wall between the dining area and kitchen to achieve a singular cook-and-dine space, and to help optimise storage. The island, for example, now acts as a shared storage unit for both zones,” says Saraf.

Dominated by grey and black, the master bedroom sports a muted aesthetic. A fluted white wall backdrops the slumber zone, lending a sense of depth to the otherwise levelled setting. The corner by the window holds a study nook characterised by dark wood and rattan.

Dusty pink and dove grey come together in the home office-cum-den (formerly the third bedroom).
“With mid-century modern silhouettes, classic wainscoting, hints of greenery, eclectic art and linear patterns, the room is versatile in that it is equally ideal for working or unwinding. The easel is an ode to the client’s love for painting,” Saraf says.
