Mumbai Houzz: A Flat Opens Up With Light, Glass & Clever Ideas
Large spaces, greenery, translucent materials and striking artworks define this home's design envisioned by ZERO9
This home was originally a four-bedroom apartment that needed some break-out breathing areas where the members could lounge around in. The clients, who have lived abroad, also wanted their home to reflect their sophisticated tastes. So, to give their home a fresh, new touch, they sought the help of Prashant Chauhan of ZERO9.

Intriguing little elements are sprinkled across the room to add a touch of whimsy to the space. “The owners trusted us completely with the furniture and furnishings, knowing it’s our forte. Most of the decor pieces and seaters are made by the ZERO9 team,” Chauhan says.
Separating the living room from the lounge area is a large grid of clear glass and metal. “We added this to keep visual connectivity between spaces,” he says.

The lounge-cum-study room has a daybed and a swing, plus a moon artwork that adds quaintness to the setup. The design of the bedrooms is kept minimal to create a cosy vibe. “The moon print on the larger-than-life canvas is actually a photograph taken by me. Visually, this room is the largest space in the house, thanks to the glass grid that allows long sight lines. Also, this room is connected to the balcony, so it has more moving-around space,” Chauhan says.

The guest bedroom is a soft, soothing space where “we used big windows to allow more light in and make the room look larger. A small niche was created behind the bed as an accent feature for the room,” explains Chauhan.

The master bedroom with the wooden flooring has a smart, sophisticated vibe, thanks to the bold blue wall paint with a textured pattern on it. The wardrobes with mirror fronts make the room look more spacious.
“The maple bed and the fabulous atomic wall art from SPACIO make for the key features of this room. We chose wooden flooring to help the furniture blend in, thereby giving the room a seamless look, ” Chauhan says.
