“As a home for a senior couple, the brief for this Mumbai apartment laid equal emphasis on form and function,” says Bijal Chawda, founder and chief interior designer of Canvasinc Architecture Interiors.
In the living room, a gold-and-blush palette prevails. Beige marble clads the floor while a darker variant backdrops the television. Hints of colour are added by way of the pink sofa and royal-blue console.

“The couple loves to host guests, so it was important for us to design a swish space for entertaining while giving the bedrooms a more relaxed avatar,” says Chawda.
The master bedroom is a melange of pastel shades, a departure from the gilt-edged living area.
“The master bedroom also serves as a home office. The clients’ love for minimalism is reflected in the design,” Chawda says.

The minimalist spirit carries through to the guest bedroom. A sage headboard adds a dose of colour to the pared-back walls.
