The main gate leads down a pathway flanked by a manicured lawn with central seating and ivory-toned sculptures. The pathway culminates in a gabled portico.
The front door opens into a double-height atrium, crowned by an African-horn chandelier and a skylight.
The space borrows elements from Victorian design, such as the classical wall mouldings and ornate decor. Horns and antlers feature in many living spaces in the house, suggesting the trophies that used to adorn Victorian country houses.

The atrium leads visitors into a central lobby, where a custom chandelier comprising 560 tiny figurines of fairies poses as the pièce de resistance.
To the right of the central lobby lies the formal living room. With golden tones, metallic accents and a sculptural luminaire, the space gives off a regal air.

In the informal living room, a natural agate chandelier serves as the focal point.
The old-world moulding, ornate faux mantelpiece and furniture echo the home’s Victorian theme, counterbalanced by bespoke modern art pieces. The floor is clad in white Statuario marble.

In the dining area, quirky bovine artworks complement the African horn chandelier. The ivory-toned dining table makes a pared-back centre piece, surrendering the spotlight to the eye-popping dining chairs with metal details.

The TV den features a subdued shell, with none of the classical moulding of the preceding spaces. Terracotta sofas and golden chairs provide a colourful offset to the subtleness of the marble centre table and television panel.
In the kitchen, onyx cloaks the walls all the way up to the ceiling, offering a fitting backdrop to the bold blue cabinetry. An onyx kitchen island takes centre stage, doubling as a breakfast counter.
A passageway connects the central lobby to the master bedroom and the daughter’s bedroom.
The master bedroom is reminiscent of an imperial chamber. The headboard, with gilded finials and gold-leaf-covered carvings, cuts a majestic figure against the hand-woven wall coverings and Victorian-style panelling. Gilded chairs and an emerald-toned settee provide suitably grand seating on either side.

Opposite the bed, a television unit, featuring custom metal handles and hand-carved borders covered with gold leaf, dominates the wall.
In the daughter’s bedroom, the eye is immediately drawn to the vintage-style Venetian-inspired four-poster bed. In the background, a foliated wallpaper injects pattern into the surrounding vanilla scheme.
A staircase, with custom brass railing and a double-height window overlooking the garden below, guides visitors from the central lobby to the first floor.
“This floor houses three more bedrooms, namely the two sons’ bedrooms, and one of the two guest rooms,” Baweja says.

In the older son’s bedroom, camel-toned fabric panels with brass nailheads define the feature wall. An alabaster-toned bed counters the deep-toned palette, while blue suede-upholstered loungers give the space a tactile edge.

Flanking the television on the wall opposite, is a pair of shelving units.
“The units are crafted in Macassar ebony and solid metal, and play host to tchotchkes and souvenirs,” Baweja says.

The younger son’s room is a monochrome cocoon with pops of colour by way of a red sofa and copper and brown accents.
“The copper coffee tables have glass tops, while the LED unit is customised with brass handles and knobs,” says Baweja.

On another wall, brown fabric panels provide a backdrop for black accents and artwork.
The younger son’s ensuite bathroom is entirely black, holding a mirror to the palette of the bedroom. His-and-hers sinks are overarched by ornate silver mirrors.
“Each bathroom has a different design concept, but each one is made luxurious by adding natural stones, veneers, mirrors, decorative tiles and more,” says Baweja.

The guest bedroom on this floor is a blush-pink boudoir. The tufted rose-hued headboard sweeps across the wall, injecting the room with tonality and texture. To the side, a larger-than-life mirror complements the broad white vanity.
The second floor is reserved for leisure and recreation. It houses an entertainment lounge with a bar, a terrace sit-out, a spa, a gym, a home theatre and the second guest bedroom.

The evening lounge sports a beige shell with golden accoutrements. Cherry sofas and grey chairs serve as a relaxation area for the trim bar.
The second-floor guest bedroom is characterised by mocha and biscuit tones by way of the brown suede wall panelling, dark-beige sofa and patterned headboard.
“The wall panels are actually shutters for the wardrobe. They are designed to camouflage the storage area,” Baweja says.

The gym is outfitted with all-black equipment.
The sprawling spa has deck-style flooring and accents modelled on molten rock formations.
The highlight of the terrace is the glass floor.
