At the end of a tiring day, we all look forward to coming home to a luxurious, comfortable bedroom where we can unwind, relax and get the sleep that empowers us for the next day. We deserve it! Here is a guide to achieving the bedroom of your dreams.
1. Plan the layout of your room
Think about where you want to place the bed, wardrobe, dressing table etc. Ensure that there is enough space for you to move around when you are rushing in the morning. Keep only the furniture you need in the room to enjoy ample free space. Nothing brings on extra stress than clutter that just hinders and create chaos.

2. Get modular storage
As busy professionals, we tend to own too many clothes, shoes and bags. Make sure you have storage space to store all of it. Go for large wardrobes, beds with storage or you could even invest in a walk-in-closet. Ensure that the clothes and shoes are spread out so that you don’t have to spend too much time looking for your things in the morning when you are rushing. Store shoes in separate cabinets with display shelves if possible. Try and have separate cabinets to hang coats, jackets and shirts for easy access and to save them from getting crumpled.

3. Invest in a large bed, and first-class bedding
We usually spend most of our days at work in cluttered and tiny cubicles. You get home at the end of a tiring day to simply grab some sleep and rush back to the office in the morning. The last thing you want is to spend the few hours of sleep in a bed with inadequate space. To solve this problem, get a large bed that is extra comfortable. Go for it, even if you are single but can afford it. A little more sleeping space never hurts anybody. I would recommend that you opt for a four-poster bed if your ceiling height can accommodate it. Plus it’s good for the soul.

4. Skip intricacy
The last thing you want to do on your weekend is to spend hours wiping and cleaning your room. Here is a some good advice: Choose clean, simple lines over detailed, fine work. Furniture and accessories with intricate work tends to collect dust and need regular maintenance and polishing. Avoid getting tempted by hand-crafted products and opt for simple furniture with clean lines. These are easy to clean and usually do not require much maintenance.

5. Accessorise and personalise
While furniture adds functionality to a space, the character is lent by the accessories that you add. Luxurious spaces almost always have exceptional pieces that give the room an added edge. Add visual appeal to your bedroom by using interesting, unusual objects. Most of the young clients I have met live with the guilt of giving up on hobbies they pursued during school and college days. Our hectic schedules often replace our passions. Why not design our spaces to remind us or perhaps inspire us for newer creative pursuits? You could use musical instruments, sports rackets, your artwork or other such mementoes from your past, on your walls to give your bedroom a personal touch.
If you don’t want to revisit the past with mementoes, opt for thoughtful bursts of accessories – like attractive cushions, bold paintings etc. Keep the upholstery and furniture in simple, preferably neutral tones so your room gives off a clean, non-messy look even on days when you just don’t have time to clean.
