This accent element can stand out in your living room, bedroom, kitchen, bathroom and even the puja room. Getting interested? Get inspired by these designers and their spaces in creating some raw charm for yourself.
Architecture Paradigm
1. Designed by: Architecture Paradigm
Location: Karnataka, India
An unfamiliar yet ingenious use of brick tiles can be seen in this house by Architecture Paradigm. A series of weatherproofing clay tiles are used both vertically and horizontally to maintain privacy yet to allow in filtered light into the house. This textured surface on the facade reinforces the introverted behaviour of the home.

The patterns of shade and light are the highlight of this space. The brick tiles are hung and used almost as louvres. Complementing materials like timber, cuddapah, terracota tiles and cement plastered surfaces enhance the contemporary appeal.

Suiter Construction Company, Inc.
2. Designed by: Suiter Construction Company
Location: South Carolina, United States
Welcome your guests with a porch adorned with exposed bricks. Choose brick cladding to instil a sense of history. This portico uses seemingly unpolished Catawba vista bricks to create a timeless look. Notice the flat brick arch above the window? The arch with enlarged keystone distinctly brings back a sense of antiquity. White French doors and banisters add to the classical architectural character.

A brick wall is something that will never go out of style. If you are not keen on using strong colours indoors, brick and other exposed surfaces can create a rich yet a neutral palette for you. Notice how natural and accent light fall on the unevenness of the brick wall here, thereby creating a strong focal point in the living area.

4. Designed by: valerie pasquiou interiors + design
Location: New York, U.S.
This New York home is an example of how a contemporary and an edgy space can be created using exposed brick. The brick wall is the accent wall – the only element in the room with a coarse texture. It juxtaposes beautifully against the smooth wooden floor, the white wall and the minimal palette that makes up the space.
Studiovistara
5. Designed by: Studiovistara
Location: Gujarat, India
Here Studiovistara have created an eclectic space with patterned fabrics, earthy materials and diverse surfaces. Not all sides of the room are in brick, and this adds layers to the space and brings in a certain depth. Printed fabrics, wooden flooring and exposed brick successfully mix with each other. The white grouting on the brick wall gives it a prominent look adding to the rich, textured look of the room.

The accent wall in this kids’ room complements the white walls and dark floor. This room is an attractive mix of glossy, matte and coarse textures.

Gut Gut
6. Designed by: Lukas Kordik
Location: Slovakia, Europe
The designer models his own open plan apartment with a cemented ceiling and exposed brick walls painted in white. The rough exposed surfaces contrast with the smooth wooden floor and the partition wall. The whole space has an industrial, loft-like appeal.

A splash of colour is introduced in the kitchen with the use of blue cabinets. Painting the bricks white brightens the space, making the room feel light.

Tip: The porous nature of bricks makes painting them a tricky task. A coat of sealant usually helps ease the job. It also eliminates the growth of mould.
Paper House Project
7. Designed by: Paper House Project
Location: London, U.K.
During the redesigning of this apartment, the designer brings in brick to use on an accent wall. This wall stands as a perfect backdrop for showcasing the collection of art pieces owned by the homeowner. The wall is left unpolished, and its continuation into the length of the house adds the illusion of more space.
Monica Khanna Designs
8. Designed by: Monica Khanna Designs
Location: New Delhi, India
This space in the home designed by Monica Khanna Designs uses brick on the ceiling that frames the dining area. The earthy setup is accentuated by bespoke jute lights, traditional accessories and furniture that come together to bring attention to the hand-cut, irregular, wooden dining table.

The bricked ceiling connects the two semi-open spaces together.
