Adding thoughtful touches like sconces, rugs and mirrors that aren’t specifically designed for a bathroom are great ways to make the space feel more connected to the rest of your home. But perhaps the best way to make a bathroom feel like an extension of living space is to retrofit a piece of furniture into a vanity. To get your creative juices flowing, take a look at these 15 antique cabinets that designers and homeowners turned into one-of-a-kind vanities.
1. Designer Andrea Schumacher retrofitted an antique Chinese dresser into a vanity and wrapped it in a waterfall of marble for a guest bathroom in her own suburban Denver home.

4. Designer Ellinor Ellefson took two small green Chinese chests and topped them with custom quartz sinks from Silestone to make a pair of vanities for a Phoenix bathroom.
5. The sink that designer Lorraine Colson inserted into this 1960s midcentury dresser is almost flush with the top of the piece, allowing the vanity to keep its streamlined look.
6. Designer Suzanne Duin bought this antique Louis Philippe commode with its original marble top on one of her buying trips in France and transformed it into a bathroom vanity for a client’s country home.
7. A vintage wicker sideboard picked up at a local antiques store was turned into a vanity by designer Alison Kandler for a beach house bathroom in Los Angeles.
8. Designer Linda Fritschy transformed a slim antique dresser into a vanity topped with a copper vessel sink for this narrow powder room in Dallas.
9. Homeowner Ellen Allen found an antique sideboard at a shop in Charlotte, North Carolina, and transformed it into a vanity with two sinks for a bathroom in her Connecticut farmhouse.
10. Designer Aimee Griffin took a large antique demilune dresser, topped it with black granite and added a white vessel sink to create a custom vanity for a bathroom near Sacramento.
11. For a powder room in Denver, designer Laurel Quint took a vintage midcentury dresser and retrofitted it into a unique vanity. “It is super elegant and not so rough,” she says. The mirror adds a burst of drama.

13. Designer Joe Fournier, whose clients found this antique hutch for their Rhode Island home, lowered the piece by sawing off about 4 inches from the legs. He then outfitted the top with marble and an undermount sink.
14. Las Vegas homeowners Ivana and Sean Jorgensen found a midcentury dresser online and transformed it into a vanity topped with a white vessel sink. “We polished up the original brass hardware on the dresser and added some waterproof varnish to the exterior,” Ivana says.
15. Designer Claudia Juestel and her team at Adeeni Design Group took an antique dresser with an attached mirror and turned it into a vanity for this farmhouse-style home in Walnut Creek, California. The space features white beadboard walls that line up with the back of the vanity.

I used a mirrored dresser for a vanity. The clear vessel sink has a cut glass pattern that looks jewel like reflected in the mirrored top of the vanity.
I didn't see a way to edit these. I wrote in an earlier post that I thought #4 had different size vanities, but it's just the way the picture makes it look.
I really dis-like Midcentury Modern....but I absolutely love #14. Go figure, lol!
