Bold Beds That Command Attention

Of course, you can do what everyone else does and go with conventional (but also safe) bed designs. Or you could try out something that makes a big statement. Gone are the days when it was only the headboard you could experiment with – these beds exude oodles of character, and are designed to be the focal point of the bedroom.
Dipen Gada and Associates
How about designing a bedroom that teleports you to a relaxed vacation spot? A four-poster bed with pristine, white curtains can do just the trick. Such beds pair best with high ceilings because they are tall themselves. Combine it with a voluminous space like the one in the image – and the result is instant tropical magic.

How to Get a Luxurious Bedroom That is Fuss Free
The Raj Company
If you like all things traditional and classical, then this ornamental four-poster is for you. It simply breathes heritage and your bedroom transforms into a palatial bedchamber! Make sure to keep the rest of the decor simple or the ambience will be very heavy and overpowering. Not restful, that!
Annette English & Associates
A variation of the four-poster replaces the posts with column/strings of wooden beads. As you see in the picture, the strings are permanently fixed from the floor to the ceiling and bring a touch of folksy arts and crafts into a modern bedroom. For me, in a way, they work as partitions but not quite – preventing a direct view but still allowing you look through them.

Those who love all things minimal will love this pristine white cuboid four-poster. The white extends to the walls, curtains, most accessories and the floor, giving new meaning to restrained luxury. Darker blankets and cushions, a complementing contemporary carpet and a vibrant green nightstand accessorise the bed (and the white of the room) to lift the space from a flat monochrome.

Large bedrooms are nice but we all want that warm, tucked-away corner that wraps us in security at night. Here is a classic example, where faux columns are used to create a spatial separation between the sleeping area and the rest of the bedroom. This creates a very cosy setting. You can add sheer curtains to make the sleeping zone semi-private. It’s almost like a gazebo indoors!

Think out of the box and bring in a bed that is a statement piece by itself – one that does not need much styling around it. Here is one by Red Blue & Yellow: you can’t miss the graceful beauty of the bed’s bentwood frame canopy. For beds with frames like these, one needs to make sure the room is able to accommodate this kind of volume. And placement of the bed is key too – this is a design that demands attention and some empty space around it as well.

What’s the Right Location for Your Bed?
DESIGN CAFE
A floor-level bed rests on a raised wooden platform that continues as the backdrop and on to the ceiling in a single design element. This is a great way to demarcate the sleeping zone in a room without compromising on the openness of the space. The intricate backlit honeycomb jaali on the bed’s backdrop is an eye-catching detail.

Tip: Add drama to your room by adding warm LED lighting under the bed.
SoCal Contractor
Who says themed bedrooms are not meant for adults? For those who like to suspend reality and dream a little, this cocoon daybed could be an ideal retreat. The rich blue velvet upholstery looks cozy and dramatic within the wooden canopy that is finished in brushed gold. To build on the look, the carpet and ceiling pick up the blue theme.

Dress Your Bed to Perfection
KNS Architects
Floating beds can be so much fun. But this bed is not exactly floating, though it appears to be. A glass backrest catches the crocheted backdrop cascading from the ceiling, lending a touch of pretty. A nearby circular lamp continues the anti-grey theme. The seemingly weightless and wispy bed takes the all-white room to a whole new level. Very futuristic.
Children love a toy- or fantasy-themed room. Instead of redecorating the entire room, you can bring in a bed that captures that storybook magic and excitement. Just see how a bed is designed as a part of a doll’s house, complete with windows and small nooks and niches. It even has another bed upstairs, and those little windows on the side make an unusual set of footholds to get there!
