The modernist house with two gables and an imposing tower in RCC is quite the attention grabber in this residential neighbourhood.
Built in an L shape, it allows the indoor spaces to take advantage of the cocooned garden. Wall-sized windows help to establish the indoor–outdoor connection while letting in ample light and ventilation. The gable roofs appear to float, resting on slim frames filled with clear glass.

One enters a wide vestibule with marble floors, which leads to an informal sitting area, beyond which lies the dining. On the left, behind the wooden partition is the main living room. The ambience of brightness punctuated by warm wood tones smoothly ushers one through to the living area.

Metal trusses supporting the gable roof impart an industrial vibe to the living room. The glass clerestory windows set in the framework let in extra natural light. Cool marble floors combine with plush sofas that exude comfort, to create a space that is pared down to essentials yet remains welcoming.
The accent wall in marble features a geometric pattern in wood, adding an element of design to the otherwise austere room.

The grey and white tones of the mottled floor are reflected in the concrete ceiling, imparting a monotone look to the vast space. Wooden accents warm up the room while colour is injected via large pieces of art.
Just past the casual sitting area, the room suddenly transitions into a voluminous double-height space.
Says Vipuja, “Interestingly, this double-height volume that is sandwiched between two open spaces provides very good cross-ventilation in the living room area, where maximum time is spent by the family members.”
A floating switchback staircase leads to the bedrooms upstairs. The bridge connects the guest bedroom to the master bedroom. The effect is of large, unobstructed space with a crisp statement in linear patterns made by the staircase and bridge.
The guest room faces the front of the house, overlooking the garden. The high gable roof, minimal decor and large windows give the room an airy and spacious feel.
