7 Stunning Spaces Where Accessories Rule
Here is a selection of vibrant spaces where the art of displaying accessories and curios is perfected to a T

One way of giving your home a soul is by introducing elements and accessories that are close to your heart and appeal to your senses. If you love playing with the magic of art, curios and decoratives, then you’ve landed on the right page. Take a look at these seven examples…
1. There’s so much to take in, in this image – the table with the dogs under it, the sofa in the corner, the vibrant art and, of course, the pendant lights. A confluence of hues, materials and styles converge here – a little bit of vintage from the candelabras, quirkiness injected through the animal figurines and a contemporary touch with the modern paintings. All styles and pieces, however, come together without fighting for attention, and settle down harmoniously where each has an important role to play.
2. This vibrant and lively dining room gives a definitive nod to kitsch – be it through the animal-print dining table, the shocking-pink chandelier, candy-coloured walls or the pop art and retro kids’ lunch boxes on display. The neutral walls provide a nice canvas for a riot of juicy tones to burst through the room with childlike playfulness. If this image is giving you inspiration to add some more flair to your dining space, you aren’t alone!

3. A touch of the industrial and plenty of eclecticism, this living room brings in different design themes. The shell of the room is a dark chrome grey for the accessories to be able to stand out and shine. The serious and structured chandelier and the copper-shaded lamp are contrasted by the whimsical printed cushions and the wiener dog pillows kept so smartly on the side chairs.
4. Did you know that purple is the Pantone Colour of the Year 2018? It’s used liberally here through the floor-to-floor carpeting, complemented by the dark ceiling and deep-green doors. Although the room is pretty large, all the accessories make themselves noticed – the sculpture of the bull, the horned heads on the wall, the vintage-style lights and the low seating. A pretty bold set up, this.
5. The double-height dining room is accentuated with pattern-heavy walls, black-and-white chequered Italian marble flooring and shimmering accessories – all these help conjure a royal, luxurious palace-like feel. The old-style fan, vintage chandelier, centre table with crystal curios and miniature paintings paint an old-world look.

6. Distraction as a tool should not be underestimated; it helps you run your attention over a lot of things at once. The varied elements, colours and decoratives nicely balance each other in this room. While the mini cupboards, chair and mirror that works as a pin up board create a cool modern effect, the photographs and tiny curios on the distressed cabinet finish things off on a fun, cheery note. All the while, yellow and pink waft comfortably through the room.

7. The biggest lesson to learn here is how to master layering. So many hues and elements share this space and help create a one-of-a-kind interior. There’s a no-shy approach with regards to colour – see how bold red is used on the walls and lighter hued accessories are arranged around the dominating shade. Since the purple suitcase demands its own focus, it’s been kept under the table so it doesn’t fight for attention with the red wall. A painting sharing the same hue as the wall hangs on it, while a myriad things – a clock, mugs, books, plants and a sunshine-yellow chair are kept upfront. A great high-energy space to work in.
