Houzz India Contributor. I've always had my heart and soul channelled into one thing -- creativity. Amidst the hassles of life, one bright morning, life happened to me! Since then, I've been pursuing my passion. So one would find me either glued to my laptop, or in a chaotic room full of paper shavings and paints, or in sweats revamping the house, or doing the salsa while I whip up another dessert! Whatever it has to be, it must be creative!

An enthralling front door makes for a show-stopping entrance. And because I believe in making great first and last impressions, a gorgeous door becomes a priority on my must-have list. Here are six contemporary doors to inspire you.

1. This sleek and modern design enhances the minimalist architecture of the entrance. It is interesting to see how doors that reach from floor to ceiling give entrance halls the illusion of being larger than they really are. I love how the smooth glass block is centred between the grey horizontal panels. The door gets a contemporary upgrade with an oak-wood handle guard.

2. Pivot doors make quite a statement with their large, mammoth-like presence with hinges attached at top and bottom rather than on the sides. The reason why they are huge is because their large size helps them swing easily on a pivot. The mahogany wooden door here creates an impact while maintaining a low-key vibe. I like how the ombre blue runs across the glazing of the glass panels, adding just the right amount of colour.

3. The most striking feature of this door is the mesh-like panel that does not give away what’s inside. It follows the minimalist trend, which calls for keeping the doors simple and fun at the same time. This Mumbai suburban apartment with a beige-and-white entrance makes a clean and smart impression by incorporating the see-through design while adding an additional door inside to maintain privacy. The small patio chair and huge flower vase make the whole arrangement look very suave.

4. Incorporating the element of glass is always a fabulous way to make a conventional door stand out. Here the glass strips along the outer edge of the door and on the corresponding fixed panel part of it provide the right amount of privacy while making a stylish peep-through window. Very modern in design, this teakwood entrance door blends well with the whole urbane exterior of the house.

5. This contemporary wooden door, with a hint of barn style to it, seems to float weightlessly within the wood trim. This is another pivot design that aims on saving space on the interior. The worn-out look of the metal strips running vertically down the door panels give it an industrial look. The mini window adds a dimension while the horizontal lines on the wooden door help add modern flair to the space.

6. The alternating timber planks and glass strips on this door allow the homeowners both privacy and light. It is an interesting concept that renders a light and airy touch to an otherwise heavy-looking wooden door. This door is perfect for modern Indian homes since it allows light in while still preserving a sense of privacy. The narrow side panel brings in more light to the entrance.
