Hi Season Bloom, I understand your problem, and another of our readers had a similar problem as yours. I've addressed them in the above comments. I'll put the solution here again for you.

"There are quite a few methods you could use to scare them away apart from the regular reflectors and helium balloons that need to be replaced from time to time. Consider spraying a methyl anthranilate solution on the plants. It is used for flavouring and doesn't mess with the fauna. But it will make the plants taste very different to the birds, and they won’t want to come back for more. You can also apply bird gels which though are harmless and non-toxic but render a sticky residue which is unpleasant for the birds. Alternately, you may install thin metal bird nets to make it uncomfortable for the birds to perch on."

Hope the excerpt helps! :)

Hi Pragati. Though the above ideas look good, but I'm afraid of the feasibility in an Indian setting(Delhi) where maintaining outdoor furniture is a big challenge because of the harsh climate (dust, sun, rain etc.)

How do you propose to work with a 10'x6' balcony (north facing) on the 4th floor beside the living room
