It can be a challenging task to design a home to house a large extended family, with members ranging from the very young to the very old. Achieving a balance between communal living and privacy, individuality and cohesiveness, can take some doing. These homes, however, make the task seem like an easy one and make living all together seem effortless, comfortable and fun.

This 1000-square-metre house has been planned in such a way that the spaces are split into different levels, from ground floor up to the first floor, to ensure privacy for all members of the household. The rust-coloured spiral staircase made of steel is a prominent sculptural piece in a living room that is 25 feet high.

The home has a spacious living area for spending family time together. Wall-to-wall French windows connect the indoors and outdoors, allowing for easy mingling. The expansiveness of the double-height ceiling is given a touch of warmth by floor-to-ceiling blinds.
