Isn’t it twice as much fun watching a football or IPL match, or an episode of Game of Thrones when you’re seated in a really relaxing spot? Wondering how to design one that suits you? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. From cosy, restful spaces to chic, high-tech rooms, here is a selection of the most comfortable TV rooms from which you can take inspiration.
1. This TV room has oodles of character, thanks to the wooden flooring, the patterned wall behind the TV, the sketched art wall and the plush sectionals. What an eclectic design story the elements create.
2. This setting is ideal for those with a single-minded obsession – to watch cable, Amazon Prime or Netflix in peace. The smart grey sofa and subtle spotlights create a restful mood, while the large windows light up the room when the TV isn’t in use. The thick blackout curtains ensure the room is rid of all external light and reflections when the tube is switched on.
3. Hard-core TV viewers will love this – after all, there are no distractions in this room. I like the flow of colour here: the rust hue from behind the TV almost merges with the wooden cabinets, and the sliding doors follow the same palette. Plus, who said excessive TV watching means you never leave the house? This indoor-outdoor setting begs to differ.
4. Instead of getting a large bespoke unit specially for the TV, this space looks at ways to highlight the TV with colour while also providing a simple open box shelf for storing the DVD player, CDs and decoratives. The striking purple hue is an appealing element in this all-white scheme, picked up by the colours of the cushions on the sofa opposite.
5. For sports or movie enthusiasts, can there be a better arrangement than this, where the room completely focuses on the large screen and two smaller screens on the side. The sectional and pouffes ensure comfort all along.

6. This interior shows how sometimes just an architectural element is all you need to lift a space and its decor. See how a seamless band of wood helps highlight the TV, create an eye-catching ceiling design and flows down at the back as a wall of vertical slats behind the seating area. It almost gives a den-like feel to the TV room.
7. You can’t take your eyes away from this TV unit, what with its imposing size and the backlit onyx mounting. The installation also adds another dimension to the room’s look and feel, giving it a dramatic quality.
8. I like how the TV is highlighted in this area via the bright green wall colour. The low run of cabinets neatly store cables, wires, CDs and remotes without taking up too much visual space. The L-shaped sofa, rug, stripes on the wall and TV unit are all colour-coordinated.

9. The black sectional with an ottoman has ample space for people to put up their feet and enjoy TV-time. The white walls and ceiling contrast with the seating, creating a striking visual. The curving TV stand on wheels acts as a flexible unit – it can be pushed discreetly to the side when not in use, hiding it from the main seating area.
10. A TV-cum-reading room – the designers have seamlessly accommodated both functions. The TV, right in the centre, with a minimal unit, holds all the paraphernalia for the television. The leather sofa is positioned such that it creates a cove-like setting.
