Designing a teenage boy’s bedroom might feel like a scary gamble for many parents. That’s because this space needs to be styled to suit the teen’s strong likes and dislikes. It must showcase his passions, while being practical at the same time. We’ve put together a bunch of teen bedrooms here, some with smart study corners and intriguing storage options and others that just boldly represent personalities … if you’re looking to redecorate or design his space from scratch, you’re in for a treat.
1. This teenage boy’s bedroom by Studio Course channels a rustic vibe, evident through the rough, tactile walls, the low custom bed and the small wooden side table. The teal ceiling, bright-blue bedding and the bicycle wall installation add a playful, fun ambience to the room.
2. A refuge for a sports enthusiast – this cosy bedroom helps him daydream about golf when he isn’t playing it. The theme-printed wallpaper above the bed and the window conjure up a comfortable scape. Also, the study table next to the bed is a clean, uncomplicated space for studying.

3. This is an ideal bedroom for a melody-maker, mathematician or an artist because of its casual, relaxed vibe, just the perfect place to ideate, come up lyrics, theories or draw all day long. Getting creative on the walls isn’t a bridge too far, thanks to the chalkboard wall here, which acts as an ever-ready canvas for him. The white cabinets on the side offer enough storage and have a light visual impact against the white wall.

4. This bedroom by KSUP Studio shows a hint of the industrial vibe through the metallic lamps, pendant lights and the miniature bike kept atop the wooden table. While ample sunlight streaming in from the window illuminates the whole space, the room also gets a large dose of colour through the accent wall in blue.

5. Aren’t all teenagers experts at snoozing through the ringing of the alarm clock on school days – why does it have to start so early in the morning anyway? The wall graphic next to the bed aptly denotes that. Plus, the all-white scheme, comfortable bed and the small window to the world help create a snug, sleep-inducing haven.
6. There’s something so charming about this interior. The all-white backdrop, single bed, a surf board on the side, ceiling-hung model airplanes and the multicoloured throwback-to-school style metal locker – all have an endearing quality.

7. This bedroom by Kath Karma Interior Designers & Space Planners is a dreamland for a soccer fan. The dark wall-to-wall Manchester United wallpaper is complemented by the black-and-white headboard. The bed sheet with the bicycle print, too, oozes character.
8. This could very well be a gender-neutral bedroom, perfect for a boy or a girl (since I, too, am a big DC and Marvel fan). The large framed posters inject a fun, lively vibe and the bright-red wall paint ensures that the environs always remain energetic. The comfortable bed and sofa give the chance to nap and lounge, two other favourite hobbies of most teens.
9. This bedroom is minimal but filled with personality. The skateboarding enthusiast has surrounded himself with the sport he loves – evident through the wall art and the board resting atop the bed’s headboard. The small side table with a sleek black lamp and the bed are pushed against the window and wall, to create some floor space for the young skateboarder to practise at home.
10. I like the colour palette of this bedroom – it’s soothing and there’s an eye-catching quality to the orange-and-grey combination, complemented by the mushroom-green bedspread. The wood and metal shelves on either side of the bed provide considerable storage for the young adult; the small recessed window seat offers a spot for ‘me time’. Everything is accommodated well inside this small space.
