We chose TBA to do a significant kitchen renovation. The kitchen is a small one and that was definitely a challenge. The design expanded the kitchen space without changing the over all foot print. The design process was very thorough. The new design included a vaulted ceiling with skylights, an island and a new work flow, updated floors, paint, cabinets and counters. My house has an open floor plan so all areas open to the kitchen got new finishes as well. All work was done to high standards and the carpenters and all subs were experienced and did super quality work. There were delays due to covid's after effects (big delays with appliance delivery), but through all of that TBA kept the project going. Project was completed as efficiently as possible, on budget without surprises and with great communication through out. We're really happy with the finished project and would hire TBA again.

Thomas patiently worked with my wife and me as the project evolved from switching locations of the toilet and shower, removing a wall to the adjacent vanity area, and installing a second sink; to one which included modifying a closet to be walk-through, adding a free-standing tub and a three panel window, adding a heated floor and installing a Runtal wall radiator. Thomas is exceptionally knowledgeable and recommended materials and colors to fit into our design. In preparation, floor and staircase covering was put down to minimize wear and tear. And plastic sheeting was put up in the master bedroom to minimize dust infiltration into the rest of the house. Their clean up at the end of each work day ensured that the impact to the rest of the house was negligible. Thomas’ staff and sub-contractors were craftsmen in their approach to their work. The carpenters, plumbers, electricians, plasterers, tile installers, and painters all did an excellent job. Their attention to detail was especially appreciated. All in all, we are especially pleased with how this project turned out. We intend to contract with Thomas in the future to upgrade the remaining bathrooms in our home.

We could not be happier with the kitchen renovation that TBA just finished for us. We had originally hired another contractor, but they went out of business, but Carl jumped right in to help us out! He got us on the schedule very quickly and went through all of our plans. He is extremely thorough and thought of things that we would never have even asked about! He kept us up to date on the timeline and where everything was at all times. The kitchen looks better than we ever could have imagined!! I would recommend TBA to anyone and we know we'll have more projects with them in the future :)

Thomas Buckborough & Associates has done several sizable projects for us in the past 4 years. The first one, a beautiful kitchen renovation, updated our kitchen and opened up what was previously a very small space. We have been thrilled with the results, and everyone who comes to our home comments on it. Most recently, because of damage due to the severe weather conditions in the winter of 2015, we hired Thomas and his team to do our repairs and reconstruction. Thomas worked along with our insurance company to make sure that they understood the extent of the repairs and covered our expenses. As always, we are thrilled with the results. Along with top quality materials and workmanship, the quality that stands out with this company is that we could always count on Thomas doing what he said he was going to do, and on time. He coordinates his subcontractors and takes full responsibility to make sure their workmanship meets the highest standards. We have worked with numerous other design and construction professionals over the years, and never have we worked with anyone who consistently showed up when they said they were going to show up, and finished the project when they said they were going to be done. I am thrilled to recommend Thomas Buckborough & Associates, and would be pleased to speak with anyone who would required further information.

We hired Thomas Buckborough for a major design/build remodeling project on our brick colonial, involving removing an uninspired single story addition and building a new two story structure on the same footprint. We moved our kitchen from a wing into the center of the new space, relocated and improved 2-1/2 baths, opened up the floor plan, added an office and upstairs laundry, and upgraded insulation and major systems, to bring our home into the 21st century. Throughout the planning and execution, communications were excellent. Thomas has wonderful design instincts and worked collaboratively with us to create a plan that works well. And when the inevitable issues arose in a remodel of this complexity, Thomas handled them promptly and professionally. His project manager was exemplary at managing the schedule and all of the trades, and his dedicated team of carpenters are superb craftsmen with focus on detail and customer service. We are very fortunate to have found Thomas and recommend him highly.

In the process of selling my house it was discovered that I had some structural work required. Since we had a purchase and sale agreement I had a very limited time to get this work completed. I contacted several contractors to give me an estimate of the work. Thomas Buckborough and Associates immediately returned my call and within a couple of days I had an estimate and a completion time-frame that met my needs. I received a few other estimates eventually but the one I received from Thomas Buckborough was the best. His firm completed the work when promised and did so to the highest standards. I would highly recommend his business to anyone looking to do any kind of work on their home.

We have worked with Thomas on a number of projects over the years, but our most recent experience highlights his professionalism and his incredible, responsible service. What was supposed to be a three day project to upgrade some things in the kitchen became a 6 month series of mishaps, none of them his fault. For example, the granite installers ignored the plan that had been drawn, and installed the stone with the seams in the wrong places. Later, one of the workmen lost the house key. Later still, the stove exhaust was damaged/broken by the granite work. The list goes on and on. The kitchen has been fully functional through these months, but the details have been hanging and frustrating. Thomas' steady attention to the job, his patient and ever reliable attempts to right the wrongs have been amazing., I suspect there are few designer/builders who are as responsive, honest, faithful, and pleasant. He went so far above and beyond in his attempts to manage the job that we actually refused a few of his generous offers. When the stovetop was rendered useless overnight, he dropped off a small electric set of two burners and an excellent bottle of wine. Until the work was completely finished, he did not expect or accept payment. We have the highest possible respect for him as a person as well as for his work.

We were very pleased with the work TBA did on our house this past fall. Although the work we needed done was straightforward—mostly delayed maintenance on the exterior—the project was consistently treated as though the work was important to Thomas and his crew, not just fill-in for them between more interesting work. We were consulted for our preferences whenever appropriate while the project was underway. Due to additional problems needing remediation found during the course of the work, the project proved more time-consuming than originally scheduled for, but Thomas was able to accommodate what was needed without compromising. The only design element (a means to divert water coming off the roof away from a vulnerable meeting of two walls) was handled with a pleasing and prompt solution. The cost of the project reflected the overall good quality and efficiency of the work, and the crew was always the right combination of friendly and professional. When our house is next in need of work, we’ll be calling TBA. Update--We were very happy with the job TBA did on our house last year, so when winter storms left us needing additional work, we talked to Thomas Buckborough. He was gracious about fitting the repairs into his schedule. We were again impressed with the quality of the work, and the efficiency and pleasant attitudes of the crew.

We have hired TB&A for two large and very different projects: the first was a remodel of our upstairs space which had a large engineering and architectural component, while the second - a kitchen remodel - was more in need of an aesthetic and creative punch. In both instances, Thomas and his team delivered beyond our expectations. Their attentiveness and attention to detail are exemplary, and their follow-up and willingness to do what it takes to get it right are refreshing. Thomas and his team are professional and approachable - they were true partners in transforming our home.

Absolutely horrible. Demanded a nearly $2K deposit and then offered an estimate where we were allowed a ridiculously small allowance for appliances, fixtures, etc. Do NOT pay the deposit. We went with another contractor who me our needs for a fraction of the price. We plan to file a complaint with the BBB. Please beware.

I realize that what you feel about the design experience you had with our company may have disturbed you, but I would like you to know that we tried very hard to meet your needs and spent a great deal of time and effort trying to accomplish that and at no time intentionally acted in a manner that should have posed a question about our integrity. Our industry is heavily populated by company’s whose pricing may be below ours, however our design excellence, quality of work and dedication to the highest levels of customer service may sometimes result in price quotations beyond some client’s expectations. We also made an attempt to contact you to find a way to ease your feelings but never received a response from you.

We hope you were able to plan your project in away that better met your own expectations about the pre-construction process.

We had never worked with either an architect or a contractor before we undertook our most recent project, so we were very skeptical about what to expect. We had originally intended to begin with a kitchen remodel, but once we began working with Thomas we realized that we had some other preliminary projects that needed to be completed first. We recently completed the addition of a mudroom, a new bathroom and an office, along with a compelte overhaul of our front entrance and related landscaping. It all came out beautifully. Thomas has a a precise and creative eye, is extremely knowledgable and is very professional. He was always willing to listen, make adjustments and give us his best ideas. He is very patient and the work is extremely well executed. His team is outstanding. He uses the very best painters, carpenters, electricians and plumbers. They were all superb, and Thomas was with us every step of the way managing the whole process. He met our deadlines, and stayed on budget.

Thomas listened carefully to our needs and created a space that truly transformed our house. Our project involved renovation for a new kitchen with counter seating & bar area, mudroom, laundry and powder room. He helped designed a kitchen with elements fitting to our 1870s house and which also integrated our unique French stove. His team has incredible attention to detail and excellent craftsmanship. Sub-contractors delivered quality services, were tightly managed, and the project was delivered on time. His team also ensured there was a limited amount of disruption to us and they kept the space clean and safe.

I’ve used Buckborough for well over ten years for projects ranging from a kitchen remodel to a ground-up 1500+ sq ft addition. Probably over ten projects in total. I’m a demanding knowledgeable client and very pleased with his work. Wouldn’t go back if I wasn’t. Thomas has a good but flexible design eye; you’ll get what you want, not what he wants. Crews are professional and experienced. His schedules are realistic and usually met or nearly so. Bottom line. This is a quality organization. Don’t simply compare quotes, compare results. If you want down and dirty, go elsewhere.
