Abby's Stair Project
This style isn't enclosed on the right. The thing I like about this design is you can get fancy with a stair skirt and tread brackets. I will explain as well as render a quick drawing when we meet to clarify terms and styles. But what that means is there will be a board on the right side underneath the treads with decorative blocks. I will explain Thursday.
Dark brown treads with white risers and usually stair skirts are "all the rage" right now. I like the color scheme as well but prefer to mix it up a bit more rather than have white stair skirts as well as risers. Also I prefer a more neutral color as opposed to white. Like the color on the walls in this pic. I used this pic first for another reason as well. Notice how they raised the elevation of the wall underneath the spindles and hand rail. This is a cool look. The main reason they do this is to "enclose" the stairs on the right side. You can barely see the stair skirt on the second wall to the right after the landing as you turn to the left. Notice the board on the left side at the landing standing vertical? To the right of the painting. This is completely wrong. It was installed because of a design flaw which the carpenter should have been aware of and changed. Notice how it stands out once it's been pointed out? The stair skirt is too small. It wouldn't have "enclosed" the left side of the platform tread. So you e...
This what I meant by having more than one color. Treads are dark wood. Risers are black and skirting as well as apron are white.
