Fixtures can be positioned in the middle or at the foot of the tub.Great for: Opulent spaces and pampering sessionsClawfoot bathtubs are great for that luxurious, vintage vibe. These freestanding bathtubs come with four curlicue ‘feet’, though modern interpretations showcase simple, clean lines like the one in the picture above. Clawfoot bathtubs usually come with a ‘roll-top’ for neck and arm support.
Be differentAnd here’s yet another version of wall light style – this one, positioned to the side of the bed, will provide ambient rather than directional light. If you are sharing your bed with someone, ensure you’ll both be happy with this kind of light, which may provide a bigger glow and keep your sleeping pal awake if you like to read late into the night. Dimmers and low-wattage bulbs are one solution, but eye strain will have to be a consideration.
Looking for something a little different? This lighted cube makes a unique bedside table.
Instead of bedside tables, how about bedside dressers? These are pretty big, but the scale is nice with the large bed and very tall headboard.
And this table made of branch sections is pretty interesting too.
A chest that opens from the top can be used if you don’t need to get into the contents often. In my guest room I use two chests as the side tables. It’s where I store extra blankets and pillows.Find out the dos and don’ts of designing a small bedroom
I really love the look of a simple, bold shape next to the bed.
Why limit yourself to one table when you can have two?
Nesting tables are a fun idea and I love the cute little circular feet on these.
14. I have often tripped on the floor, trying to squeeze into my heels while standing. As a result, I now try to find a place to sit down to put them on. For such times, I wish I had the space to place an ottoman like this in my closet. This deep buttoned ottoman topped with leather has two shelves for shoe storage underneath.
5. Best-placed rodsAs with the previous project, the designer carefully planned the rods and shelves for this wall of clothing. TakeawayRods and shelves can be adjusted. If you have just one rod across your closet, you’re wasting a lot of usable space down below. Leave room for longer pieces like coats, long skirts and dresses, but install two rods, one over the other, for shirts/jackets on top, pants/skirts on the bottom. While you’re at it, you may also find you have room for more than one shelf above the rod, which makes it easier to keep folded sweaters and other items organised.
3. Elegance. Just pure eleganceThe glass chandelier, the tufted ottoman, those crystal knobs … may Houzzers were drawn to closets with beautiful finishes and touches. I want to sit in this closet and meditate, or fantasise about a purse collection. Calming colours, beautifully crafted mouldings and the required photo styling of an oh-so-casually-left-out pair of shoes make this shot a favourite new upload among Houzz users. Takeaways Hang a floor-length mirror in or close to your closet.A skylight can be a great source of natural light in a windowless closet. Just make sure it won’t let direct sunlight fade your clothing.Wood floors are a good option for a closet — easy to hit with a microfibre dry mop to keep the dust bunnies away. I don’t know about you, but I’ve caught a low-hanging sleeve in a vacuum more than once.
15. Small mirrors propped on a picture shelfEither paired with art or on their own, a cluster of three small mirrors on a narrow shelf looks charming and allows you to change the arrangement with ease as the mood strikes. Tip: Place plants of different sizes strategically to create a good visual of the balcony garden. Do not overcrowd plants; it will hamper their growth as they won’t get enough sunlight and water.
3. Don’t hold back in making the dining room a testament to your taste and style. If you so desire, make the backrest of the chairs in jali work, and experiment with colours. Choose a shade that highlights them. Paint them such that they are able to provide a contrast to the rest of the space.
