The Tile: I fell in LOVE with this tile before it even came out. Clé (who I’ve worked with several times and I can’t help but keep going back to their product) sent the samples of their new Italian terracotta from their Architect’s Palette line to me knowing that I would love it and they were not wrong. I wanted to use it in the master bathroom but when the other design was chosen, I had to use it here. It’s the perfect slate blue, with a lot of handmade feel to it, but in a simple brick shape. We stacked it vertically to feel more modern (if you are wondering about our feelings between stack and stagger, check out this post). Then we used a medium toned grout so you see the dimension of the tile without being too stark and high contrast.

from elle decor DRAMATIC POWDER ROOMS top bathroom trends Lauren Pressey “Powder rooms and small bathrooms are starting to have their own moments with drama! Adding in interesting tile as a backsplash with dark paint or using ornate wallpaper in the entire space is creating a mood that people are loving because it’s unexpected. And unexpected can make for an exciting experience.” — Linda Hayslett of L.H. Designs

from Elle Decor Nicole Hill Gerulat MIXING TILES Mixing tiles is one of the easiest ways to boost a small bathroom's visual appeal. For this design scheme in a Orem, Utah home, glass and mother-of-pearl tile from Oceanside Glasstile were used to cover the walls and play off of the geometric stone flooring. Coastal sisal wallpaper from Thibaut adds warmth to the space.
A dramatic look can be achieved by choosing black tile instead of color, made more beautiful when paired with white and wood and brass.
Shiny nickel faucets and sconces + matte brass framed mirrors.
You can also mix the silver tones found in chome/nickel with the warmer tones in brass. These two need not compete, they actually can complement each other. This medley works really well when one finish is shiny (the faucets) and the other finished is brushed (the sconces).
