In the kitchen, a large window lets in light and views. “It’s a very curated view of the outdoors and the blueberry farm and fields beyond,” Flavin says. The Italian-made Arrital Cucine cabinets and PentalQuartz countertops continue the clean aesthetic.
Exterior cedar siding wraps inside the house to frame the view toward the kitchen and dining areas. A blue-gray, high-gloss painted backsplash enlivens the matte silver-gray Poggenpohl kitchen cabinets.
On the kitchen’s storage wall, the cabinets’ clean fronts without handles continue the home’s minimalist aesthetic. The countertops are white Caesarstone.
The other side of the wall houses the kitchen, which features cabinets of bleached walnut accented with a high-gloss gray stain. Behind the stove is a backsplash of back-painted white glass. The island is draped in a waterfall of Carrara marble.

On the house’s lower level is the family gathering space for movie and game nights. A smaller version of the upstairs kitchen and island with Polyform cabinets provides plenty of preparation, cooking and eating space. Both the dining banquette and the bar stools are upholstered in vinyl on the front so they are easy to wipe clean. On the back of the stools is a higher-end fabric with a sheen from The Romo Group’s Zinc line.
Rush designed the kitchen with the homeowner’s ways of functioning in mind. “She is a great cook and wanted the kitchen to serve almost as a stage so she can do her thing while she entertains,” Rush says. She also wanted two adjacent sinks — one for washing food and discarding bits while chopping, and the other for dishes. Down to the right, the marble waterfall countertop seats four for more casual dining. The countertop and backsplash are both marble.The cabinets are walnut, cut from three sequential slabs so that they could be bookmatched in the center. The door in the back leads to the pantry. They had a local industrial manufacturer make the lights, which are spun brass that they polished on the inside and blackened on the outside.
Downstairs, the open living, kitchen and dining area opens up to a deck and garden below. Dramatic Calacatta Viola marble used for the kitchen island and the living area coffee table (which Knock designed) has striking veins with just a hint of purple. The floors have hydronic heating embedded in a matte-finished concrete.
