Bedroom Ideas
The master bedroom is on the right side of the passage. “This room clad in upholstery, wood and rose-metal inlay from ceiling to bottom forms a cosy and comfortable space with a slight glisten of metal to unwind after a long day’s work. Metal pendant lights on either side of the bed complement the entire material palette,” says Poonawala.
For the master bedroom, the designers opted for a Prussian blue for the headboard wall and paired it with a grey upholstered bed and wooden nightstands. “The brass wall sconces really pop against the blue and make a statement,” Yogesh says. The wardrobes were kept simple, with white shutters and sleek black handles that add an element of contrast and interest.
A neutral palette helps create an atmosphere of casual chic; and since neutral colours blend in easily, it’s important to consider textures and patterns for neutral decor to be effective. Here, tall flowing drapes in a subdued colour add a healthy dose of sophistication, as does the rich-looking bed linen and the plush velvet carpet. White wooden mini chandeliers suspended on either side of the bed add ornate detail to the decor. A dash of bold contrast through the wallpaper anchors the neutrals and saves the bedroom from becoming too soporific. Tip: Hang your drapes from right below the ceiling, leaving no wall space in sight – this adds inches to the height of a room and visually enlarges the space.
A bedroom subtle in colours and decor, boasting clean lines, is no less impactful. The swivelling perforated screens that stand in for windows allow in breeze while restricting the harsh sun, at the same time presiding over the room with their visually striking design. The veneer-panelled headboard that conceals light fixtures and features strategic cutouts comes into its own at nighttime, adorning the room with dappled light and shadow patterns.
This bedroom successfully recreates the Mediterranean vibe in all its glory of pristine white interspersed with shades of blue. Additionally, the dangling bed brings home the holiday vibe by the spadeful. Made in IPS and topped off with a luxuriously thick mattress, it tricks the eye into believing it’s suspended from the ceiling thanks to the jute ropes attached from above. The rustic coastal vibe continues into the terrace – Kota tiles used in a random pattern for the flooring echo the cobbled streets of Greece.
Matte grey and polished timber can conjure a hushed yet characterful haven in a small boudoir – and be subtle enough to bounce light around. In this pint-sized Mumbai bedroom by Studio Osmosis, grey elements cocoon the room in warmth, taming the hardness lent by the timber headboard frame. Indigo scatter pillows add a burst of vibrancy to the bijou room without dwarfing the space.
Deep blue and pearl white Blue and white is an evergreen combo, one of the best colour pairs for small bedrooms. If you prefer using a darker shade of blue, build colour into your space in doses – create a feature wall, pick bright bed linen or go big with accents. A dark colour on one wall can actually elongate your room and make it feel more spacious. This cerulean wallpaper is the star of this moody chamber, doing well to set the ambience. The remaining walls, bed linen and selection of pillows, all in white, offset the heady blue and lend a sense of airiness to the compact space.
The spacious master bedroom radiates a serene energy through its colour pallette of taupe, beige and grey, complemented by gold and silver accents. “Here, you’ll see many interesting patterns and shapes that are characteristic of our innate style. This space feels relaxed and stimulates the senses as well,” Vasi says.
The half-bedroom was converted into a private den for intimate gatherings and movie nights,” says Nair. Dark-grey walls, wooden flooring, a casual sectional and a pinewood bench channel an unfussy, pared-back vibe, while a wine-red wall-mounted bar counter dials up the energy.
The master bedroom is dominated by azure and contains a modern four-poster bed. The decor is practical and pared-back, characterised by crisp lines and clean edges. “Dark blue is a popular choice in contemporary Scandinavian decor. We used it to lend the room some character,” he says.
“The third bedroom was converted into a den with herringbone wooden laminate flooring and jute wall cover. The art deco chairs were reupholstered in an Ikat print fabric and are anchored by an Afghanistani rug which has been in the family for over 60 years,” says Parikh. A hand-painted plywood study table abuts the window.
