Kitchens - two islands
My idea is to have 2 butcher blocks (imagine them in the place of the farthest-from-viewer island) as the work horses and another island as the serving buffet counter which will also have large drawers for storage. Cooks easily turn from either island to put prepared foods or dishes in oven/stove or sink. Also, fridge and appliance garage will be accessed easily from butcher blocks. (I have heard from many cooks that the smaller the island, the easier it is to maneuver, thus smoother function.) None of these photos really show the open doorways for access to the mudroom area but just imagine it...
edge of island?
