tjordhei's ideas
Nice smaller fireplace with a clean look and the textural interest of stone
The colors of the stone tiles
I don't like this example, but wanted to say a reminder about stair lighting
Recessed track lighting
A long, single room depth, house to maximize views.
Drawers, not doors, for ease of finding and ease of grabbing for use
Sink close to stove for carrying heavy pots of water
Rounded edges to minimize bumps, bruises and cuts
Nice mix of appliances, like the built-in sink with drain channels cut into the counter
Adding an island to a galley kitchen
Double wide table to get two chairs at the end...also, the Conde House chairs ("so comfortable, you could sit in them all day long")
I like the dining nook idea for regular family dinners and the banquettes look nice...however, I wonder if it wouldn't be easier to get into and out of the window side if it were table and chairs instead?
Pantry,pantry, pantry.... I want a pantry!
Maybe Mary or Emily would like these
Electric mirror to prevent fogging....plus, TV hidden in/viewable thru the mirror
Couch and fireplace in the kitchen with a huge island
Couch in the kitchen etc
Another kitchen and skylight scenario
Skylight bringing tons of natural light into the kitchen...great idea for a kitchen with no windows that somehow looks inviting, warm and modern.
Niches for flowers and doodads
Optimize counter heights for tasks...standard 36" kitchen counter too high for some people and / or prep tasks...standard 30" bath counter too low (for example, our vanity at 5704 is maybe 39")
Bring windows down to counter level to create more feeling of openness and sunlight on the counter.
Strand-woven poplar floors
Windows
Frosted glass with top clear
Double glazing on this see thru fireplace provides sonic privacy while also giving the see-thru, sharing and connection benefits to the two rooms.
