Kitchen
Don't like the looks of this (wood too yellow), but like the concept. and like one other key aspect - it not only serves as coffee cafe nook, but has microwave above. this frees up space in the oven stack for a steam oven also. downside is that our current microwave also sort of works as an oven, so having a microwave only isn't as helpful. but i'd still explore this. have a good friend who swears by her steamer. says it is just superb and cooks better veggies than any other way. so i'm looking into one. helpful for vegetarians.
why are the beams suspended/cabled???
Lazy Susan is actually a good idea.
like the organized rows
keep this idea in mind. great for hanging up those things left scattered about on the counter.
single line hanging pot rack. I like this, unlike the oval one we have that gets all out of balance and has too much girth.
the little drawers in the overhand are very clever - as long as they don't cut into knee space. but what a great idea of non-seating overhand places. let's definitely remember this !
we do need wine storage
flagged this just to comment on its cleverness.
interesting -- the island IS the table. It doesn't seem to have appliances in it. That's a thought - tho i don't know how fun it is to totally be eating in the kitchen surrounded by appliances. not sure where we'd move our stove if we freed up the island for dining. We could then have a extension on the west end that allowed seating to expand beyond 8. But then what do you do with the chairs when you do't want them cluttering the space and blocking access to the island as work station. and then how would someone serve or continue to access the kitchen spaces during a meal while people were seated. this must have lots of space around it. Dunno. Maybe not the best plan.
everyone is doing this "off the end of the island" seating features
Wild and whacky in a fun way. HOw clever that that the seating/eating area is then further separated by what looks to be a desk at the very end of the island.
sometimes i prefer the lowered table extension since bar stools are never really comfortable.
clearly these island extensions are popular, but everyone also has a regular dining space -- which is our problem. where to have regular dining space?
i like this in that the change in materials makes the whole table extension look intentional and integrates is with the other parts of the island.
I like the openness of the more table-like extension. We don't have space for permanent positioning like shown in the photo, but this goes back to the idea of something that pulls out/expands.
interesting dining option. Don't like how high the sink counter is raised - feels as if it crowds/cuts into the dining part. I would limit it to about a 2-inch difference. However, the height is determined by counter top height vs table seating height. But this does have a lot of seating around the curved end. Is it a space hog and does it replace formal dining?
i like that the built-in window seat has "air" underneath it
storage underneath a must. While I had wanted the seating to mimic the bay window shape, i see a straight edge is way betters. for seating, pillows (lot of sturdy ones) can be used to turn this into valuable seating space when a table it pushed up to it.
Diagonal side rails on pull out shelf allow for storing taller items and keep things from falling out.
What is this? Does camera just distort a regular frig? But doors look different?.......
This long sleek counter simply looks great
Good idea having righ5 under chop area
Maybe good idea for equip garage with lift up door and translucent glass.
this frig looks ginormous - can't tell if it's camera angle or what. looks 5' wide with all one freezer drawer. could that be?
clever - worth considering
another great idea already noted in another photo
This is good for less frequently used items - or a group of items one might like to keep together for service.
so unrealistically tidy !!!!!
these to seem to make sense. right now we are cluttered on the counter with a jar full of utensils.
A thought. But one is giving up prime cabinet space to accommodate something less frequently used. I wonder how this holds up to the vibration and movement caused by a mixer.
drawer makes total sense and we will include this. I tried to do that for laundry room.
Brilliant indeed. Love this -- tho it reorients where one stands and changes view from south to west.
so cool, but how in the world to they water the plants. don't think the faucet sprayer is THAT long.
Lowered Divider. Pros: Want to have a double sink and be able to comfortably wash or soak a long-handled pan? A sink with a lowered divider might be for you. Cons: If your cooking style demands deep water, this is not an ideal configuration.
Pros: super functional sink system with lots of options. Cons: This sink can take up a lot of countertop space, although the prep areas it provides may make up for that. Because it’s so involved, this option is not for the casual cook. The industrial look makes a strong statement.
sink accessories -- remember the roll mat available for sinks. takes up little space for storage when not in use (not shown in this photo) and is effective rack when in use, tho it is just flat, with no uprights for standing up plates. these accessories require that the sink top be exposed, even when an undermount, since the accessories need something to rest on. i prefer a clean undermount, but need to explore this more.
consider built in drain board for dishes or veggies. does take up more space, but is perhaps better that losing one compartment to dish drainer or a chunk of counter to dish drainer. we hand wash, so always have dishes air drying. where to put them is an issue. a separate built in space for this would be great.
atrractive. trouble with all of these lights flagged is that they are specialty bulbs and are NOT LED. Not sure how wise that is for selecting new, attached fixtures.
odd, but i rather like this
actually looks better in bronze, but i like that this has lots of breathability
an interesting semi-flush. don't love it but it's different from most if we want a more industrial look
interesting shape
simple, inexpensive
sort of like NOTE: these three flagged fixtures are on sale NOW via HOUZZ -- very costly when not on sale
