House Plans Helper Stairs Commentary
As far as I can see these stairs are cantilevered which is to say they're fixed deep into the wall so that they appear to float.
Traditionally the stairs are located in the hallway but this tradition is broken with plenty. Here's the stairs coming down into the kitchen. I hope the kitchen extractor hood is a good one to stop the kitchen odours creeping up the stairs.
Stairs surrounded by walls rather than making use of spindles and banisters almost appear as rooms.
Don't forget you can have a different finish on the spindles and bannister.
A steel beam down the centre of the staircase allows designs where the outside of the stairs can feel de-emphasised
I love the way the stairs are tied in with the fireplace (or is it the other way around?). This arrangement leads to the stairs having a change if material mid flight which makes the staircase appear less tall.
You can see the cupboards under the first flight of stairs. Then there's a transition to a more light and airy design with a grill being used for the floor of the landing followed by the next flight if stairs with open risers.
Don't forget you can specify for the treads and the risers on your staircase to be finished differently.

A door half way up the stairs. Why not?
This louvred wall renders this staircase both open and enclosed.
More storage under the stairs.
Here's a more generous staircase. In a larger home a generous staircase with a 90 degree turn to ascend a floor lends a feeling of grandeur.
I'm a fan of going for several lighting fixtures at different heights for lighting the stairwell rather than one big chandelier.
I think a home built with split levels is really charming. The changing levels really punctuate moving round the home.
Add to the atmosphere of your home by incorporating design elements into the balustrade and newel posts.
This staircase takes up only marginally more space than a straight staircase but with a slight curve the effect is majestic. The panelling plays a part in the overall effect.
Great storage in the stairs.
There are lots of options to choose from when it comes to what materials you can use on the stairs.
